One of my favourite feelings whilst travelling for design is discovering pieces that feel completely unfamiliar.

Not trend-driven unfamiliar. Not “trying to go viral” unfamiliar. But objects that genuinely make you stop and look twice because you haven’t quite seen anything like them before.

That was exactly how I felt discovering .studio at in Paris.

Founded between London and Istanbul by Eda Akaltun and Mevce Çıracı, the studio approaches design through storytelling, ritual and cultural memory.

The pieces draw from Turkey’s layered heritage but reinterpret it in such a contemporary and sculptural way that they feel both ancient and futuristic at the same time.

I’m always drawn to work that carries emotional depth beneath the aesthetics. Objects that feel symbolic and feminine.

In a world where we consume so much design so quickly, it’s quite special to encounter pieces that genuinely surprise you.

And if you’d like to join the next .anatomy.podcast tour, we are releasing details soon, so get in touch and send me a DM.

We saw Milan Design Week at a very Chinese time in its life.
I noticed a few ‘Asiamaxxing’ threads at Milan Design Week and I began to wonder why. So I put down some ideas over on the Style Studies.

Let me know if you want to read it or click the link in bio.

Design versus FOMO, here are my thoughts…
Furniture, lighting and decor with the most thoughtful curation- it’s my vibe. Beautiful spaces have been known to make me cry. I’m obsessed.

I’m not here in Milan for ‘brand experiences’ I am here for design.

So then I walk into this space by and… no line.
Zero.
Not a velvet rope in sight.
Just acres of calm, beautifully composed, breathe-out-your-shoulders space.

Which honestly felt like the ultimate luxury.

The brand is -design, and they carry everything.
Different designers, different brands, all just… coexisting.

No peacocking. No shouting. Just a very chic dinner party where everyone is interesting and no one needs to prove it.

And suddenly FOMO…
Nowhere to be seen.

“The whole family loves looking through the presentation” my client told me when we met the other day.
I loved hearing it. And I love thinking of how they might use the spaces.
I hope that this family really loves coming together and relaxing at this beautiful property surrounded by Moonah trees.
Here’s the plan for this charming home with architecture by

Renders by me as I love to get on the tools and get nerdy.

Trend #4: The non-Instagram-first home.

Not everything needs to be smooth, beige, and emotionally unavailable.

Not every corner needs to be styled within an inch of its life.
Not every surface needs to be ready for its close-up.

Because homes designed for Instagram are often designed to be admired from a distance… not actually used.

The sofa that looks divine but feels like you need to ask it permission to sit.
The coffee table with nothing on it, as though no one here drinks coffee. 😬
Shelves styled so perfectly they’ve never held a single dog-eared book.

It’s all very impressive.
And also slightly… lonely.

The most beautiful homes tell the truth.

Books you’ve read, twice.
Objects found, inherited, rescued.
Furniture chosen because it makes you want to stay a little longer.

Not everything needs to perform.

Your home isn’t content.
It’s the backdrop to your real, messy, wonderful life.

And honestly, to me that’s far more compelling.

Trend #3: The kitchen is the emotional centre of the home.

Not just where meals are made, but where life unfolds.

Morning coffee.
Late-night conversations.
Homework at the bench.
Friends gathered without trying too hard.

We’re moving away from kitchens that feel purely functional, or performative. And toward spaces that feel warm, integrated, and lived in.

Island benches that merge into dining.
Artwork on the walls.
Materials that soften with time.

Because when you think about it, the kitchen isn’t just a workspace.

It’s where we return to each other.

Trend #2: Bathrooms are becoming living rooms.

Not in function, in feeling.

We’re moving away from cold, clinical spaces designed purely for efficiency. And toward rooms that help us slow down.

Plaster walls.
Artwork.
Layered lighting.
A chair, if space allows.

Because the bathroom isn’t just where you get ready.
It’s where you wake up.
Where you decompress.
Where you’re alone with your thoughts.

When wellness becomes a priority, the bathroom becomes more than functional.
It becomes restorative.

Less utility.
More sanctuary.

Trend #1: Enclosure is back.

For years we knocked down walls in the name of openness. Bigger sightlines. Seamless flow. Everything visible.

But life has changed.

We work from home. We scroll from home. 🙋🏼‍♀️ We rest, recover, host and raise families in the same few square metres. And suddenly… openness feels noisy.

Enclosure isn’t about going backwards.
It’s about creating refuge.

Broken-plan layouts.
L-shaped living zones.
Quiet corners.
Rooms that can close.

Because when the world feels loud, your home shouldn’t be.

Enclosure isn’t restrictive.
It’s restorative.

I’m starting a series of trends we’re seeing in interiors for 2026, but I’d love to know, what are your predictions?

The vision is building…. Inspired by Parisian classic style, with an Australian twist.
Excited for this client to see progress!

I create these renders myself because I’m a nerd 🤓 and because I want to directly design a home from what you’re needing and how you want to live.

I still get a little flutter when I see a project pop up in print or online.

I’ll always be grateful for the support over the years, especially being featured by so many times. It’s never lost on me what that kind of platform means. And being included in publications like , it’s absolute honour.

And then… Real Living.
RIP to my favourite print magazine. You were clipped, dog-eared, coffee-stained and deeply loved. Gone but never forgotten 💔

These features aren’t just shiny moments, they’re reminders of the trust my clients place in me, and the collaboration that goes into creating homes that feel good to live in, not just good to look at.

If you’re planning a renovation, a new build, or want help decorating a home that finally feels like you, I offer full-service interior design as well as 60-minute design consultations (in person or online).

Thoughtful, considered, and very much lived-in, just how I like it.
