Mel has been creating for as long as she can remember — painting, drawing, and happily “sticking stuff to other stuff” from a very young age. With decades in the craft industry and running her own business since 2003, she brings a wealth of experience, innovation and heart to everything she does.
In 2008, Mel purchased her first laser machine — a turning point that allowed her to design and manufacture her own unique papercraft products. Today, her website is filled with original designs for scrapbooking, art journalling, cardmaking and more — from stencils and cardstock to chipboard, foam stamps, printed papers and paper napkins.
Mel discovered art journalling around 15 years ago and instantly fell in love. For her, it’s a space to experiment freely — focusing on process over perfection. With a Diploma in Art Therapy, she brings a thoughtful understanding of the emotional side of creativity and a beautiful awareness of how colour, texture and choice reflect who we are.
Rather than sticking to one signature style, Mel loves exploring whatever inspires her in the moment. Her current obsession? Interactive, multi-layered pages — think cut-through windows, acetate details, depth and movement.
For the April retreat, Mel has two exciting classes planned, filled with interactive techniques, multi-page builds and creative ways to add dimension and surprise to your journal pages.
As much as she loves creating, Mel equally loves teaching. She finds real joy in watching beginners grow in confidence and seeing how students take her ideas and truly make them their own.
Her motto says it perfectly:
