Venezuela te llevo en el alma.

The last few weeks have been heavy.

Like many of you, my heart has been with Venezuela 💛💙♥️ with everyone affected, with family, with our diaspora community doing what we always do: showing up for each other.

I’ve been a little quiet on here for obvious reasons and also taking care of few health hiccups.

This week I’m slowly getting back in the kitchen, and working on something I’m really proud of, I’ll be sharing it with you soon.

Thank you for your patience and your love. It means more than you know.

How can I take you from my mind and heart.

Watching the earthquakes hit Venezuela this week has been hard to put into words.

My family’s roots are there, and I keep thinking about the kids who are now without homes, without school, without the basics most of us take for granted.

UNICEF is one of the vital organisations on the ground, responding to children’s needs right now. If you can, please donate at unicef.org.au.

Venezuela, mi corazón está contigo 🇻🇪 my heart is with you ❤️

A strong earthquake shook Venezuela, with major damage reported in Caracas and surrounding areas. Buildings have collapsed and rescue teams are still searching for survivors.

The quake was also felt across parts of the wider region, including nearby Caribbean areas. Similar events striking Japan and California on the same day.

From far away, it feels heavy watching this unfold.

If you have verified ways to help, please share them below 👇🏼 I’ll reshare. 🙏🏽

A lot can change when someone is given the chance to start again.

Today I’m spending the morning supporting the World Refugee Day Telethon with the ASRC.

As a Venezuelan migrant building a life in Australia, I know how powerful community support can be. The ASRC does incredible work helping people seeking asylum and refugees access the essentials they need while rebuilding their lives with dignity, safety and hope.

If you’d like to support this important work, you can:
📞 Call 1300 MYASRC (1300 692 772)
📱 Text HOPE to 0476 000 111 to donate $25
💻 Donate online at asrc.org.au/telethon

Every donation helps create a more welcoming Australia for people seeking safety and a fresh start.

FRITTATA DI PASTA CALABRESE | Calabrian Style Frittata

My husband has been talking about his Nonna’s Frittata di Pasta for years.

The only problem? Nobody ever wrote down the recipe.

So today I did what every home cook does when they’re chasing a memory: I channelled my inner Nonna and hoped for the best.

As a Latina married into an Italian family, I love moments like this. Food has a way of carrying stories across generations, cultures and kitchens.

Did I recreate it exactly as she made it? Probably not.

Did I get an Italian husband approval at the end? Yes. And honestly, I’ll take that.

🇮🇹❤️🇻🇪

Have you ever tried to recreate a family recipe that only exists in someone’s memories?

I don’t see anyone talking about this…
Venezuela has officially been nominated for South America’s Leading Culinary Destination 2026 at the World Travel Awards, competing alongside Peru, Argentina, Brazil, and other regional powerhouses. The nomination puts Venezuelan cuisine on an international stage and highlights dishes like arepas, pabellón criollo, tequeños, hallacas, cachapas and many more. As a Venezuelan cook in Australia, here’s why I believe this moment matters far beyond winning an award.

And I’m not saying Venezuela has the best cuisine in South America, but it definitely deserves to be part of the conversation.

And it was delicious…
Next time will do it on top of an arepa 😉

High Protein Breakfast ✅ but you are Latina
2 eggs
Well seasoned steak
(Scrambled - abuelo used to do this all the time with shredded beef)
Avo
Toast
Tajin

Boom.
