every death related to mental health in australia 1/10 of those deaths that person has symptoms consistent with borderline personality disorder. Imagine if this was any other illness people would be marching the streets but because its a mental illness and on too a personality disorder which are widely misunderstood and have so much stigma that most of us don’t even identify ourselves as having it out of fear of judgement when all we want is help care and support. This artwork was made with the idea that it’s never to late to change or write a new story for yourself

emotional 3rd degree burns the title of this piece, thats what “they” in the literature say it feels like having bpd, no emotional skin, I’m here as a person with Borderline Personality Disorder to say yes for me i will confirm this and say it can certainly feel like this at times, But that doesn’t mean it’s all doom gloom and disaster, there are positive traits and ultimately we want to be seen and treated as equal too. This work just explores the depths of pain which is one side of the story. The art is also a representation of battles with invisible illness and the hurt we go through with chronic illness and my representation of what lies behind the mask of every ‘im fine’ or ‘don’t worry about it’ or ‘its okay’ when we’re alone and don’t have to mask for sake of everyone around us or the world at large that isn’t made for people with disabilities. This is what it would look like just a snapshot of wearing the pain on the outside.

Hi I’m Lauren, 30, from Melbourne, Australia, Disabled Artist/ Digital Illustrator these art works were created to explore and express the emotional pain I have gone through in the past weeks being in the psych ward living with borderline personality disorder & going through anti depressant withdrawal, appreciate the like or share if you or your loved one has ever suffered your not alone and even when it’s really bad, there is always someone out there that understands, so I’ll leave it with the words of Nietzsche To live is to
