We turned a cramped Toorak kitchen into a high-functioning showpiece - and it came down to three decades of design tradecraft. I led the remodel, reworking the layout to create clear work zones, adding deep pull-out pantry systems and custom under-bench drawers to boost storage by nearly 40%, and specifying durable marble-look surfaces and warm oak joinery for a timeless finish. Layered lighting-task strips under cabinets, pendant accents and dimmable downlights-made the space feel larger and more usable at every hour. The result? A smoother workflow, room for every appliance and utensil, and a kitchen that strengthens resale appeal across Brighton, Malvern and more. Curious how this approach could work in your home? As a designer and educator, I’ve seen how formal training saves time and money on Melbourne renovations. Clear documentation: one Toorak kitchen had bespoke joinery drawn to the millimetre - trades arrived confident, and what was built matched the plan. Smarter material choices: in Malvern we swapped an expensive stone for a visually identical, more durable option, cutting lifecycle costs. Fewer on-site changes: a Brighton bathroom plan caught plumbing clashes before demolition, avoiding costly delays. If you want an expert who manages risk and delivers calm confidence, let’s talk. https://www.5rooms.com.au/
