Happy New Year insta & FB fam! 🤩💗
We are just back in the office after almost 4 weeks off. I must admit I was horizontal most of that time, (not completely by choice)….& my reason for being soooo quiet online. It was a great time to sit with & percolate on exciting changes & reveals we aim to make early this year, including a new website.

When I could be vertical again, I spent the most incredible day in the city with my gorgeous sons, investigating the new(ish) Yayoi Kusama exhibition at the incredible

We would highly recommend a visit, it’s on until April… I’m looking forward to visiting a second time before it closes. I loved her vibrant expression & seeing life through the eyes of a beautiful, eccentric, peace-loving soul. Was magnificent! Enjoy my happy snaps 🤩

My favourite things 😊💗

Thankfully my picture hanging ‘Master’, Bryan, was here to help me yesterday. I had my heart set on a particularly personaI collage of curated artworks, icons & collectibles, from all around the world, blended with pieces from favourite local artists.

This installation is positioned directly opposite my bed. So I can wake up every day to beloved pieces which make my heart sing 🙏💗

I woke up today with a bit of exhaustion & sniffly head cold after a taxing week, including a big work trip interstate. So, on this rainy Melbourne day, I’m staying in bed, feeling grateful for my high vibing bedroom sanctuary, with special thanks to favourites &
Check out their Divine creations 🙏💗
Also still loving my little sofa C2010 🥰

The little things that matter

For me, old photos & memorabilia evoke memories;
which are snippets of time;
frozen into stillness;
for our hearts to be jolted into remembering where we have been & who we love…
Even if they are gone.
Arousing feelings of gratitude for what has been. Fortifying our futures.

Dedicated design attention to detail doesn’t have to equate to spending more. A keen ability to discern what is most important. whether to make items visible or invisible. In the case of this particular post, creating the infrastructure, or backdrop, for our clients’ most precious things to be made most visible. Creating sacred space for these items to exist.

We enjoy lovingly curating our clients’ most favourite things- artwork, sculpture, memorabilia, photos & more. Helping them to be reverently, holistically & lovingly worked into the overall design scheme. Not as an afterthought.

I believe things we love contain energy. This energy can serve us by creating a force-field of love around us, our families & our homes. We believe the simple things matter.

Our family has seen significant loss in the last couple of months. Always a good reminder to love fiercely & authentically 💗🙏

Maybe it’s a sign of the times but we are doing a lot more ‘moody schemes’ at the moment.
This particular bathroom & laundry space went from- stark white, utilitarian, ‘hospital-like’, including visible washing machine, to- fully-integrated cool grunge. (We needed to reuse the client’s toilet suite & bath, so the floor tiles helped integrate the blocks of white into the otherwise darker palette).

It’s now a much more pleasant space to light some candles & enjoy a good soak. Budget was also a priority in this inner city studio apartment. We can work with that! Just needed to be a little clever…things like the tiles behind the mirror being inexpensive pool tiles! Shhhhh 🤫🤓😜

I could have designed anything for myself. After all, the world is effectively my oyster as a designer. What I ultimately honed in on was ‘function’. We are a grown-up family & we all cook!

Chris (22 year old) is like the Swedish chef in the muppets & Bodhi (17) is a master baker, leaving a fine film of flour everywhere when he cooks. Michael is a survival cook (keeps us alive) & I tend to be a little more ‘adventurous gourmet’. So we all bang around in the kitchen quite a lot.

Some very well thought out decisions we made for ourselves include :-
-The need for an inset sink instead of an undermount, because the stone edges are too vulnerable in our home.
-We decided on a laminate finish for the cabinet doors, because it’s such great quality these days & is way more durable than a 2-pack painted finish.
-We needed a pile of drawers & plenty of storage, as 2 houses became one when we sold our country property…
And YES! I do need 5 whisks & 6 egg flips. They are all different! Sizes & uses! 😝
-I wanted some shelves for my favourite books, but also wanted it contained, so clutter wouldn’t start accumulating.
-I loved the idea of keeping it light around the window, including flowing the bench top over the sill to add depth behind the sink;
-Tiling into the reveals & running a shelf over the top, into the reveal, for a collection of bright vases & plants. (With no vulnerable architraves to get ruined).

I often look at other lovely designs & constantly ask myself, scratching my head, ‘That’s lovely & all… but where does everything go? Cooks need things!’

So mostly it’s practical but with personalized details like:-
-25mm contrasting timber surround around the tall cabinets & the overheads over the cooktop;
-As well as the rounded end on the island & shelves, giving a nod to the mid-century vibe of the 1968 cream brick darling that is our home. 😊💗
(Built the same year as me, so funky vintage… thinking fine wine, or old cheese 😜)

Clear quartz is one of the most versatile and powerful stones in the crystal kingdom. It is said to amplify energy, cleanse negative energies, and balance the body and mind.

You can also use clear quartz to enhance, or amplify, the effects of other crystals, making it an excellent addition to crystal collections.

In the case of my sitting room, (photos below), the core of these light fittings are amethyst, with clear quartz petals, therefore enhancing the effects of amethyst’s ability to bring peace, protection and calm into the environment, as well as promoting intuition and creativity.

For my curious, spooky friends, I always feel St. Germain & his powerful violet flame related to amethyst, so my intention for these fittings is to hold this energy cleansing intention over the whole of our property. No lower entities can stay, or enter the property. (Thank you 🙏)

In a scientific sense & for my geek friends 🤓, this all makes sense, because crystals, such as quartz, can be tapped for electricity using a piezoelectric (mechanical energy discharge) method. By securing the crystal and subjecting it to direct force with a magnet or heat, a detectable amount of electricity is released. The energy in my sitting room heightened as soon as I turned on the light switch.

As conscious interior designers, we can change the vibe of a space with specific tools, ethically sourced fittings, along with personal intentions, without the ‘boho hippie look’. I intend for all of the design jobs I undertake to have both a complete physical AND energetic transformation…

So spaces FEEL better too 😊🙏🩷

There is such a thing as tooooo much timber 😱
It is all about balance…
Knowing when to stop, or pull back. The timber floors became the feature.

This room was given a brand new life & was a pleasure to snuggle in 🥰💗

Home is where the hearth (& heart) is-

I still can’t shake this feeling of the need to pare back, be more grateful for & cherish what is most important in my life. Nostalgic feelings of security, home, the hearth & drama-free living being at the forefront for me.

Stepping back gently from a world with repeating cycles of lack & chaos. Being most available for mutual kinship, warm hugs & good hearty food, from wholesome sources. Choosing cozy optimistic environments, sprinkled with laughter, mutuality & shared dreams.

It may be a thoughtful response to what’s happening in the world, whilst also being a reflection of my own heart. I suppose my heart creating my environment & then my environment filling my heart…
I love to also help others do the same. It’s amazing how our lives can change when we transform where we live. Inviting more layers & textures.

After-all, I absolutely believe our living environments are a reflection of our psyche. We may as well have it rich & abundant. Clear out that which doesn’t serve us & fill it with the good stuff!

Is anyone else feeling it too? ☺️

Home is where the hearth (& heart) is for me. 🙂💗

Sharing some cozy creations… some maximalist & others, simple organic. All warm & inviting. 🤗

Here’s a bit of ‘before & after’ inspo…
And everybody laughed when I mentioned I was painting the house lime green! 😝

I could already see it finished before we started!… Exactly as I was hoping 🙂

By including a separate garage in front of the main front bedroom, it created the cutest & most private courtyard. It took a lot of negotiation with council, but we got there. It’s also amazing what a new roof can do too!
