Every couple of years I embarrass myself on this platform to say hello and introduce myself to new followers and Collectors…
H E L L O
My name is Carla Zammit and thank you for being here.

It’s been a minute…
After nearly 5 years of full time painting, I truly needed a creative reset. In those last few years, I worked nearly 7 days a week painting and creating for so many beautiful people and spaces - what a privilege. During this time I participated in 9 Art fairs, 11 Gallery exhibitions, 3 Artist residencies and completed countless commissions for wonderful collectors and Interior Designers. Wow… I’ve likely missed some honourable mentions in this also.

After hitting a hard creative roadblock, I spent the last 6 months out of the studio entirely, I put down the brushes and walked away.
Did I miss it? Yes. Did I enjoy the time out? Yes.
It wasn’t all holiday mode, I’m a Mum of 2 boys and I also work as a multi-state retail leader for 3 of the most iconic Australian fashion brands; Sportscraft, Jag and Saba. Another privilege. I love my job and the people I work with make it magic.
Surrounded with textiles, colour, fashion and aesthetic beauty every single day, the mind never truly leaves the studio, only physically are we absent. Any Creative human on here will absolutely agree with me right now…. It’s funny how a perfectly placed ‘anything’ becomes the foundation of a new idea to us.

Either way, I’m excited to be painting again. It’s amazing what a good reset can do, where the new ideas come from. It’s not from other artists or industry trends, it’s from me and the current things I’m obsessed with, are drawn to and admire. It’s what my soul craves and this current “exhale state of mind”, is literally why I am an Artist.

An entire new collection of works will be released at this year’s Melbourne edition.
I’ll update Fair, Stand, my website and new Collection details (with sneak peaks, ofcourse) over the next couple of months but in the meantime, if you need me…. You know where I’ll be.
