I finally finished a thing - a gorgeously squishy wrap 🥳.

Color Popportunity by Westknits using gifted Alpaca yarn from my mum as the main colour and ‘Desert’, ‘Winter’s Dream’ and ‘Mustard’ from my hand-dyed collection for the poppy waves.

Bring on Winter - I can’t wait to wear you!

So it’s been a longggg minute since I’ve done anything creative - almost a year to be exact 😖. My page silent and my art room still a museum.

My day job is so demanding of time and energy, that the last 3 years has been difficult to find that balance. I’ve set myself a goal this year …. just 1…. I’m starting to carve out some creative time - to return to what fills my happy jug and gives me space to disconnect and immerse myself into something just for me. I’ve missed it so much!

I’ve started and ripped out this pattern 4x - due to be rebelling the lifelines and just not concentrating. And after a year it’s finally finished - meant to be a shawl but I’ve made mine as a table topper!

Wow that was a long crafty hiatus 😳 - 10 months and I’m only just starting to feel my crafty self again! Have tried to get
my mojo back by doing a few rows here and there but the art room has become a museum and I can’t seem to find that feeling, you know?!?

I started Laiken by Jane Vancelous agggeeees ago after seeing the pattern on Expression Fibre Art’s website. And today I finished it! Yahoo 🎉🎉😊

Using Scheepjes Our Tribe in “Cypress Textiles”, “Silver Birch” and “Motivate”, it’s blocking nicely and can’t wait to gift it for a friend’s birthday coming up 😀

It was my dear friend’s birthday in early December and life got in the way of celebrating her birthday until now. I wanted to make her something special as she is special to me. Dyeing a delicious 8-ply Merino/Nylon/Silk in a colourway I named “Smoky Quartz” after echoing its properties to ground and remove negative energy. Next was to choose the perfect pattern. I’d always wanted to try patterns but was a little terrified as they appear quite intricate. His is full of amazing texture so after conducting secret squirrel business with her husband, I decided to set my fear aside as we agreed it would be perfect for her.

I am so happy with the result but what is more meaningful is how much she loves it!

The dahlias this year are absolutely magnificent! Even though I was a horticulturist for many years seeing exactly how plants react to environmental change, I still get blown away with the results. These dahlias were moved from one side of the bay to the other seven months ago ( ), and as they’ve emerged from their dormant state slower than usual as it’s been cool, they are the best they’ve ever been even though they’ve been moved from the same climate to same climate. Happy Friday all! May your weekend be as beautiful as this flower ❤️

This weekend has certainly filled my happiness jug - spending time with friends eating delicious food and laughing so hard, my sides ached. Then today, continuing to work on this lovely using Lola Rosalie in Lilac and Silver Glitter and Lola Solo in Raspberry, Silver and Amethyst. I am having a ball learning new stitches - is a genius. His patterns are eye popping and so much fun to work up. I am loving seeing my grow.
How’s your weekend been?

I saw this beautiful image by of a stunning Strawberry Finch (swipe to see screen grab) and was so inspired by its colours.

I normally plan my dye sessions using my recipes and planning it all out. However, this time I just grabbed the yarn and experimented. Am so chuffed with how the skeins turned out - here’s a pic of 100% Merino in fi*****ng weight named “Flight of the Finch” ♥️

Such a glorious Friday - with the slight warmth in the air and the buzzing of bees on this heavily flowering Blood Orange, and seeing the maple start to unfurl its feathery leaves makes me so happy. Sometimes it’s just the little things 🤗

Huge success in the dye pots this weekend passed - gosh they turned out soooo pretty! Left skein is 100% Merino and the right skein is 50% Merino/50% Silk. Now to finish winding the others 😆

So hubby sent me this pic today of an echium with the most amazing pink halo. I’ve never come across this variety before and it is stunning. Best of all hubby’s message was “hey babe, thought this would make a great colourway for your yarn dyeing stuff”. Gots to love him 🥰
