Breaking the news to the girls yesterday morning that Scott is leaving was a little… confusing. 😂
Their responses, speaking over the top of each other:
“Is he retiring like Sidebottom?”
“But he’s a Collingwood player!”
“But why is he going to another team?”
“He’s even older than you, Daddy!” 😂
And for Matthew and I, who have been together for almost 17 years, all we’ve ever known is Scott Pendlebury as a Collingwood player. We always thought you’d finish your career as a Magpie. 😢
To now have shared the experience of taking our girls to your record-breaking 433rd game and cheering you on together is a memory we’ll always treasure. Thank you, Scott, for the memories and your role in so much of the club’s success. 🤍
This photo was taken in January this year, at early morning midweek training. It was basically us and a couple of Pies fans watching on. Out of all the players, Scott and Jamie were the ones who ran over to say hello and take a photo with our girls. 🫶
Then, to top it off, a runner went off and came back with two Collingwood bobbleheads for them. Thank you for your kindness that day, Scott. 🥹
