It's so important to stay connected with friends and family especially when on holidays and needing help from Mr. Google maps or searching where to go next!

The main service providers are Alfa and MTC Touch where you can buy pre-paid and post-paid SIM cards and insert in your phone as normal. This is something I would normally do and just keep recharging as soon as I run out of data. Lebanon's connectivity is extremely weak and therefore can waste your data quicker than you expect. To recharge you can just go to the phone store (almost every street has one ) and they recharge for you. This can also be done online.

Last year whilst travelling through Europe I was introduced to e-SIM (no idea how I didn't know about this before ) a lot of the main e-sim providers don't connect with Lebanon but I found two providers that do which I will definately be trying out this year. Numero and eSimfy (AirAlo) were the stand outs after some research and recommended by locals too however they say it's only good for short term use as the connectivity isn't as strong as an actual sim.

This also allows you to retain your physical SIM line and get multiple SIMs on your device.
From a user's perspective, an eSIM has many advantages such as allowing the seamless switching between mobile networks, allowing you to have more than one SIM and number, and enabling smoother device setup. Also: can you imagine no longer needing to open the pesky SIM tray?

There are so many ways to get around in Beirut especially catching a "service" from the street.
Generally most are good and will get you to where you need to be but sometimes when they know your not a local can charge you more than the standard. With the economic and financial situation at the moment I prefer to use the below due to comfort and safety:

Poke Taxi - +961 71 306 020
1 have been using Poke Taxi for the last 8 years or so and their service is great and reliable no matter which region you are in. I know and trust the drivers I am getting into the car with and it is always a set price before the ride is finished. No matter how much traffic there is! They operate via watsapp and the owner Nemr operates this 24/7. If you want to hire them for the whole day they can also arrange this.

Allo Taxi - Call 1213 or can book online via website. Allo Taxi is one of the original taxi companies and operate 24/7 as well. It is very professional and they provide the name of the driver, tracking, make of the car, number plate and update you with texts of when they have arrived.

Bolt - Is an app which is the same as Uber however is used more there and they can only be used in Beirut city. They are great and was the first time I used them this year for short distant drives as they would literally get you within 2 mins of ordering. It will show how much the trip will be when you order the ride. However, due to the never ending conversion between the Lira and USD it does not update on the app and most drivers will call you to negotiate a price before they pick you up.

Uber - Ofcourse there is also Uber which allows you to bid on how much they will pick you up for depending on where your going and availibilty of Ubers at the time.

Hey Beys!

I have wanted to start this page for a very long time and each year I travel to Lebanon and explore - people can't fathom the beauty and the fact there is so much to see and do. In a way I intentionally post a lot when I travel there so that people can see a different side to Lebanon that is generally portrayed and also for people to realise it's not a desert 😆.

Friends that I know from Lebanese background have been travelling there for years and years and when they see my stories they will always ask "is this the same Lebanon we go to?" "How do you find these places?" "Please let us know where to go"?

Soooo due to high demand and as we share similar interests coming from abroad - I have created this little space to share with you all and make it a one stop shop for when you go there next.
