Lane 23, Malaysia.

The conversation pit at Lane 23 evolved through a process of sketches, material exploration and spatial studies, with a focus on creating an intimate yet immersive social experience.

The layering of textures, materials and lighting draws visitors deeper into the space, while the staircase opens up views towards the activity below. Together, these elements create a sequence of touch points and changing perspectives, encouraging curiosity as you move through Lane 23.

The design creates a learning journey that explores the sensorial development of children through curiosity, expression and exploration.

Across the children’s rooms, corridor and foyer, and waiting areas, alcoves, textures, colours and natural light create spaces of familiarity, comfort and safety for children and families.

Windows within the shared classroom walls create a symbiotic relationship between the classrooms and corridor, connecting viewers with the activities within.

A highly child and parent-focused design, each space is activated with features and flexibility to promote learning through exploration.

Eynesbury Early Learning Center, Melbourne.

In a joint venture with Architectus & Designinc, Eynesbury ELC is a highly striking form that hugs the corner of Eynesbury Primary School, expressing a strong identity within this new estate of nearly 3,000 residents.

Designed to create a contextual familiarity with the history of the farming region, the varying scale of the form reflects resilience, softness and vitality. The wonder of childhood is celebrated through landscape and playful design features, with natural light permeating the interiors at various levels.

K2LD’s role as Principal Design Consultant and Client-side Technical Advisor involved close engagement with the City of Melton and project stakeholders.

House Between Lights, Singapore.

At the centre of the house, a triple-volume staircase and water courtyard form the environmental core of the project. Conceived as a vertical light well and connective void, this space draws daylight deep into the interior while facilitating natural ventilation and visual continuity across multiple storeys. As light shifts throughout the day, the stair becomes an atmospheric threshold mediating movement, shadow, reflection, and air.

Toward the rear, the architecture gradually dissolves into the garden and pool through angled vertical screens and planted Vernonia elliptica creepers. Together, these layers form a porous veil that filters western light, softens visual exposure, and creates privacy without relying on rigid enclosure.

Rather than treating light as a static condition, the project constructs a domestic environment shaped by filtered illumination, shifting shadow, and environmental porosity - a house experienced through the spaces between light.

Organised across three spatial bands, the house negotiates varying degrees of exposure, privacy, and openness through layered environmental thresholds. Along the front elevation, a slim-tile double skin façade forms a permeable edge against the morning sun. This ventilated screen filters heat and glare while allowing softened daylight to enter the internal living spaces.

House Between Lights, Singapore.

House Between Lights is conceived as an architecture shaped by the filtering, moderation, and movement of light through space. Situated on a narrow and elongated urban site on Singapore’s east side, the four-storey bungalow draws inspiration from the climatic intelligence of traditional shophouse typologies, where courtyards and air wells were introduced to bring daylight and ventilation deep into dense floor plates.

A few days in Milan for Salone del Mobile, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the biggest events in the design world. More than a furniture fair, it’s a space where designers, brands, and creatives from around the world come together to share ideas, showcase new work, and push design forward.

Our designers, Luke and Marisa spent the week exploring new collections, discovering emerging designers, and learning more about the thought and craftsmanship behind each piece. It was inspiring to see how much intention goes into the design process, and even more exciting to hear the stories behind it all. They came home with fresh perspectives, plenty of inspiration, and lots of ideas to bring into what they do next.

The Lansell, Melbourne.

Shaped by the contours of the land, The Lansell emerges as a quiet architectural response to its setting — a graceful and enduring form that settles naturally into the hillside, embraced by gardens and landscape.

Organised around two residential cores and a central courtyard garden, each home is designed to capture abundant natural light, generous outlooks, and a sense of openness from every direction. Large glass openings strengthen the connection between architecture and nature, while thoughtful planning encourages cross ventilation and effortless living.

Throughout each lobby, residents are welcomed by a warm atmosphere, enhanced by dramatic skylines and a palette of natural materials. This carefully considered arrival experience establishes a sense of calm and permanence, setting the tone for the homes beyond.

Every project starts with an idea, but models and renders help transform that idea into something clients can truly experience. They allow us to study proportions, materials, and the way light interacts with a space, bringing greater clarity to the design process from the very beginning.

By visualizing layouts, views, and materiality beyond traditional drawings, clients can better understand how a space will look, feel, and function. This shared understanding encourages more meaningful conversations and feedback early in the process, when refinements can be made most effectively, creating a smoother path from concept to completion.
