Through thoughtful design, we transformed Soho House into a layered, inviting retreat.

Rich natural stone, brass detailing, and a curated mix of local and international pieces bring depth and character, while a new fireplace and bespoke wall finishes create a sense of comfort and calm.

Every decision was made to balance beauty with a space that feels both refined and deeply personal. It’s always special to see a home come to life like this. Not just in how it looks, but in how it will be lived in.

In this chat, Ilana shares what it was like to bring an interior designer into her home.

From the early decision to engage help, to seeing her TV and lounge room completely transformed, she reflects on just how smooth and enjoyable the process felt.

Hearing how much Ilana now loves her space is exactly why we do what we do.

There’s no wrong answer in a bedroom, there’s only what feels like you.

At NY Design, we believe it’s the smallest details that make the biggest difference, and we don’t settle for anything less than getting them just right 🤍

A well-designed home office should do more than just look good. It should support focus, feel calm to spend time in, and integrate seamlessly into the home.

In these spaces, we focused on creating a sense of quiet order. Thoughtful joinery allows everything to have its place, while layered materials and finishes bring warmth and depth without feeling overwhelming.

Natural light plays a big role, too. Positioning the workspace near the window helps the room feel connected and uplifting throughout the day, making it somewhere you actually want to sit and spend time.

And for those moments that call for a slower pace, a dedicated nook to pause, read, or reflect can make all the difference. It’s about designing a space that supports both productivity and comfort, in equal measure.

If you’re planning a study or home office, think beyond just the desk. Consider how the space will feel, function, and evolve with your everyday routine.

Take a look inside this home, where we’ll be opening up the floor plan to create a seamless connection between the kitchen and the main living spaces.

We can't wait to see this one come to life 🤍

In this powder room, the goal wasn’t to start over, but to gently rework what was already there. To find that balance between honouring the past and making the space feel lighter, more refined, and better suited to everyday living.

Often, it’s these smaller, tucked-away rooms that offer the biggest opportunity. When thoughtfully considered, they can completely shift how a home feels from the moment you walk in.

Here, a once heavy and hidden space now feels welcoming, calm, and elevated. Still connected to its original character, but with a fresh perspective that brings everything together.

If you’re renovating, it’s worth asking not just what needs to change, but what’s worth keeping. Sometimes, the most meaningful transformations come from working with what’s already there.

Every home tells you something about the people who live in it. At Pottery House, that story is told through clay.

A cherished collection of pottery from South Africa, with pieces handmade by the homeowner’s mother. Objects that carry memory, place, and meaning, displayed where they can be seen every day.

Our job was never to design around them. It was to design with them, creating a home where these pieces feel like they’ve always belonged. Warm timbers, microcement, custom joinery, and considered lighting. A backdrop built to hold the things that matter most.

That’s what personal design looks like.

Step inside Oak House, a 1970s home in Caulfield, thoughtfully reimagined into a warm and welcoming retreat.

With two busy professionals working from home and three young adult children, this home needed to feel both effortless and highly functional. It’s a space that’s constantly shared with family and friends, so every decision was made with connection, comfort, and entertaining in mind.

We worked closely with the homeowners to refine the layout, ensuring each space felt resolved, practical, and aligned with their needs from the outset.

From there, we designed bespoke joinery and selected a layered palette of finishes and fixtures that feel timeless, warm, and easy to live with. Every detail was considered to create a sense of flow throughout the home.

Now, the home feels calm, cohesive, and inviting. A space that supports their everyday life while also welcoming in the moments that matter most.
