A huge (and belated) THANK YOU to everyone that visited my stall at the The Makers and Shakers market in Melbourne last weekend😁 I was blown away by the support and excitement received for our first big Melbourne market in the last few years.
The market game can be trying at times, especially when we’re living through such a challenging financial situation for many people, so when punters turn up and prove that this little business is worth supporting it truly warms my heart❤️
Loads of lamps big and small flew off the shelves, so I’d better get back to the workshop and get to making more wacky and whimsical luminescent lights!🛠️

Upswitch is popping up at the Makers & Shakers Market in Melbourne on April 18–19 — and things are about to get seriously lit🔥

I’ll be bringing along a fresh batch of one-of-a-kind, upcycled lamps, all handmade from reclaimed bits and pieces that have been given a second chance to shine. No two are the same, so if something sparks your interest, here’s the place to find your special piece💡

You’ll find 180 stalls packed with the best local food, fashion and fun. All Aussie and all handmade, so you know you’ll be supporting small biz!

Didn’t get around to posting these shots the other week after I had an unexpected viewing of the Aurora Australis!
We were camping with friends in Gippsland (Vic), out of reception for a few days so no knowledge of what was about to occur! About 10pm one evening after all the others had gone to bed, one of the dads and I stayed up chatting around the fire. I pointed out how clear the stars were and we decided to check them out from the lakeside beach. In the distance we could see bright lights from the nearby towns, and when I pointed to the brightest patch and stated ‘that must be towards Melbourne’, he said that it was the wrong direction.
Then we noticed the lights moving, as if a cars headlight beams were shooting into the sky.
I quickly pulled out my phone to take a photo, suspecting we might be witnessing the Aurora. And sure enough, it was there in all its glory, glimmering and glowing in the clear, dark moonless night. We watched for about an hour as it shifted and shimmered across the sky and water. Couldn’t have got luckier!

Once used to cool the air, now this little beauty is set to warm the mood and blow minds.

I’ve been wanting try my hand at a fan lamp for some time now, so when this gorgeous antique Australian made Elcon fan popped up I knew it was perfect for the job.
There’s something about the elegant yet simple art deco style that I’m always drawn to. Somewhere between the curves and the gold and green paint, where charm meets functionality.
Now it’s ready to spin some new stories and serve a new purpose… and perhaps one day it’ll become a family air-loom!

A BIG belated thanks to everyone that came and visited my stall at the market over the weekend. It’s still always scary committing to an interstate market… The costs involved, the time and energy required to make stock, prepare and pack. Then the drive for 15 hours there and back, setup, market opening hours and pack up time. But I’m still always pleasantly surprised and forever grateful for all of the love from people who come and support Australian artists like myself at each and every market!
Also a big shoutout to the Handmade Canberra team, for another seamlessly run event. Us small business owners couldn’t do what we do without your continued support and the opportunities you offer🤗
