Mercantile Home opened its doors in May 2015 and offers a range of products for the home and gift giving, carefully curated by owners Peter Karas and Carolyn Hayes. With Peter’s 30 year career as an importer of homewares and his extensive exposure to and knowledge of homewares design and trends, it was a natural progression for him to side step into the realm of retail. Partnering with his wife Ca

rolyn, the two have been able to combine their shared passion for design and beautiful objects for the home in an inspiring retail environment. Only selecting items they love has resulted in a collection of design pieces which demonstrate their appreciation of both contemporary and classic design with a minimalist aesthetic. Offering iconic European brands alongside many exciting Australian designed, and where available Australian made brands, Mercantile Home is a showcase for all things beautiful for the home. Located in the eclectic suburb of Elsternwick in Melbourne, the owners take pride in their offer of timeless, beautifully designed and quality products while striving to provide exceptional customer service. With the launch of their online store this ethos can now be extended to many more who share their design ideal.
