Philip Overdin
We live in interesting times. The pace of change is constant and our directions are many. The old saying reminds us to take time to smell the roses, in this case, the poppies. For me nature is my inspiration as colours are abundant. Colours that catch my eyes are like an invitation to record. Poppies draw me into beauty that surrounds us.

Ruth Durose

Ruth's artworks reflect her love of gardens, the natural beauty of the Australian bush and her travels in Australia and overseas.

Having worked predominantly in pastels and acrylics in the past, increasingly, her focus is on combining photography and digital art with paint, pastels and other media, along with using native flora to create mixed-media pieces, often using a gel plate to print as part of the process. Along with her prints on paper, she now has a collection of work on fabric cushions and aprons.

You can follow Ruth on her Spring Street Studio Facebook and Instagram pages, and, if you are local to the Orange, NSW, area or visiting our wonderful region, information about studio open days are available on her website or contact her for a convenient time to pop into her studio.

SUE BOYER
“SPRINGSIDE GLASS” As a scientist, medic, artist and lover of colour and light, finding an ability to manipulate glass into objects from a home studio was life changing. The inspiration for my glass work often comes from the glass itself. I love how glass is such a construction-type medium to work with and I am able to transform sheet glass into wonderfully tactile and aesthetic artworks.I am inspired by the qualities and vibrant colours of glass. I enjoy creating pieces that are both functional and fun

Cynthia Faulkner

I have painted on and off for many years but the last time I spent long hours in a studio was back in Art College in the 1960s in England. Now in retirement, I’m finding my “art feet” again but still searching for a style I’m comfortable with. I do enjoy palette knife work but I also experiment with textured paint. The open skies in this part of the world are a great inspiration.

Jo Fernandez
Jo has always had a love of art, but it was not until moving from the bustle of Sydney in 2004 that she found the time and inspiration to take up painting.
Her inspiration is drawn from the landscape: the vast expanses of land and sky, the district seasons and the impact on the light and colour of her surroundings.
Attempting to capture the elusive quality of light and create an atmospheric sense of place is Jo’s constant endeavour.
Jo paints predominantly with oil paints but also works with pastels and mixed media. A self-taught artist, Jo paints regularly with a group of like-minded artists at Newbridge

Bostoff, a gifted artist hailing from a family of creatives, discovered her artistic voice early on, showcasing her talent in her major work during HSC in art. However, it was a period of illness that became a turning point in her artistic journey. During this time, Bostoff found solace and inspiration in the simplicity of paper clippings and hole punch pieces, using these elements to craft intricate and captivating artworks.

While she occasionally explores other mediums, Bostoff's primary focus remains on transforming paper into stunning works of art. Her unique approach and dedication to her craft have garnered attention and admiration, establishing her as a truly innovative artist in her own right.

Maggi Rosso

I have been interested in Art all my life and started painting in oils at the age of 15. Over the years I dabbled in oil, watercolour, and acrylic painting, attending many workshops and tried different genres such as lead lighting, batik, and sculpture.

Following my retirement, I came to Orange and was fortunate to be able to complete a three year Advanced Diploma in Fine Arts at the Orange TAFE campus, which included printmaking, and ceramics, and this has given my Art more diversity. I have concentrated mainly on Collagraphs with my printmaking after purchasing my own printing press 10 years ago.

I am currently working on a body of work influenced by a recent trip to India with the prospect of a solo exhibition towards the end of the year.

“Coffee Pot” Acrylic RRP $300 - Kay Gorringe

I have messed around with traditional oils and watercolours for years, and have always been an enthusiastic sketcher using pen and wash. While travelling in Australia and overseas I have always had a small sketchbook in my pocket. After I retired from nursing I have spent a lot more time painting, drawing and sketching and have undertaken further study and workshops with well known local and international mentors. I enjoy painting with various groups such as the Wild Women of Arkaroola, The Wilderists, The Orange Art Society, The Orange Fauves, the Orange Sketcher’s Group and the Millthorpe Creative Arts Group.
