Seasons House — handover day.

A well-loved home ready for its next season.

This renovation updates the house to better support ageing in place, reorients the living spaces to strengthen the connection to the backyard, and carefully maintains northern solar access along the side of the home.

Let the new chapter begin.

Why Inbetween?

Our name is inspired by the idea that meaning and beauty often lie not in what’s obvious, but in what exists between.

As French composer Debussy said, “Music is the space between the notes.”
And in the words of Miles Davis, “Don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there.”

For us, architecture is not just the building — but the space it shapes, connects, and holds.

The moments, emotions, and experiences in between are where life truly happens.

That’s the essence of Inbetween Architecture.

Canopy House site update - framing is almost complete!

The design takes inspiration from the magnificent gum tree in the backyard. A new corridor connects the heritage house entry to a light-filled living space that now wraps around the backyard.

We love seeing how our completed projects evolve over time. These photos from the owner of Escher House capture the ever-changing backyard. The extension enhances the visual connection between the house and garden, transporting the heritage English cottage to the Australian Alps.

"For over a year, I spent my Saturday mornings wandering around Camberwell Market while my son was at coding class. With sketchbook in hand, I captured whatever caught my eye — bustling stalls, the people who brought them to life, the food on display, and the quiet moments in between.
These drawings are vignettes of everyday life at the market: fleeting encounters, familiar faces, and the rhythm of a community in motion."
Artistic statement - John Liu

Earlier this year, John contributed to the 2B Or Not 2B Exhibition — a celebration of architects' hand drawings and creativity. Proceeds from the exhibition supported the Sinclair-Nelson Drawing Scholarship.

Windows don't always have to be as large as possible and panoramic view isn't always the most desirable connection with outside.
At Hill House, each window was considered individually to optimise its function and view.
