🛑 One Star, No Words – The Real Impact on Small Businesses 🛑
A message from Giffards Floorworld.
This morning, we received a 1-star Google review. No comment. No explanation. No known interaction with our team.
Out of curiosity and concern, we looked into the reviewer’s history. Over the last 6 years, they’ve left 34 reviews in total—28 of them are 1-star. That’s 28 businesses rated poorly and quite few with no context. One of them is now us.
We’re not here to name or shame anyone. But we are here to speak openly about what this means for small businesses like ours.
When someone leaves a 1-star review—especially when we have no record of the person or without giving us a chance to resolve or even understand the issue—here’s what happens:
🌐 Our overall rating drops, which can push us down in search results
💬 Potential customers question whether we’re trustworthy
🧍♂️Staff morale is impacted—because they care deeply about what they do
💔 And ultimately, it affects our livelihood, growth, and reputation
We’ve been serving this community for over 70 years. We’re locals, we’re family-run, and we take pride in doing the right thing by our customers.
The truth is: many of our happy customers don’t think to leave a review, simply because everything went smoothly. And we get it—life is busy!
But today, we’re asking:
