The creative cottage in Mt Gambier

Kerry has made good use of a local heritage cottage by turning it into a hub for craft activities. The front section of the shop has Pfaff sewing machines and Baby Lock overlockers. Creatively Sewn is also an Accuquilt dealer with fabric cutters and Dies in stock. a garden of colour with the range of Cottage Garden Threads along with a large range of fabrics a

nd haberdashery. Fabric ranges include: Kaffe Fassett, Tilda, large batik range and William Morris range with a rainbow room of blenders. Classes are run in the large open back section area of this building

Day 4: Today was our final day at the fair. We spent most of our time checking out the remaining 1200 plus quilts on display and gosh what a show!!! The work is absolutely exquisite. Such a treat for us both and we are sure coming away with fresh ideas.

We met with designer Minki Kim and she was as lovely in person as we expected. Such a beautiful woman and an honour to meet. She is keen to visit Australia along with many of the other tutors, designers and people we have met along the way.

Day 3: Today we had a fantastic day visiting the Texas quilt museum at La Grange. Such beautiful quilts and sculptures as well as a library containing books and fabrics from the 1700’s.

We managed to also get a bit of shopping done before boarding the bus back to the convention centre.

Day 2: What a fantastic time we are having here in Houston. An amazing city! The weather is really hot and humid, a bit of a shock for us both after our lower southeast winter.

Today we met and spoke with the well known Ricky Timms. Ricky won the overall Houston quilt prize! He took us behind the scenes and knew Jill as the handiquilter winner and had seen her winning masterpiece. She’s famous.

We also spoke with Laura Heine and Katie Dawson (Cottage Garden Threads).

We’ve made our way around a 1/4 of the quilts on display. There are some outstanding quilts.

What a fantastic official Day 1 for us both.

Today we met with the staff, head tutor and CEO of Handiquilter. We were very grateful to join the team on their stand for a rest, candies and hydration.

We continued on to visit many other stalls throughout the day. We haven’t started on the quilts on show but will visit them in the coming days.

Back to our room for a good night rest before we embrace the day tomorrow.

Creatively Sewn will have reduced hours from Tuesday 7th October until 18th October. Kerry and an excited Jill are venturing to the USA to celebrate Jill's win of the Blessington Quilt Challenge ealier in the year. The shop will be open 10am - 2pm Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings 10 am - 12pm with Helen Fartch at the helm during this period..
