A terrible nights sleep but that’s because I’m super excited about two days of slow stitching for our ‘Taliswoman’ workshop this weekend.

What great fun it is to connect with gorgeous women near and far and I get to meet more today. A bond though stitching. x

Good morning!

I'm up early getting the weekend newsletter organised (out Saturday morning), cutting up fabrics to take to the shop today and hope you'll visit us.

We have 'Taliswoman' workshop on this weekend so I might be a little slower responding to queries. I cannot wait. It is going to be SOOOO much fun!

Lots of new goodies in store: Greyhound tea towels (new design) have arrived, Swan Like tea towels, lots of fabrics too.

A big thank you. I’m looking at my fabrics before they get cut up for sale and thinking how lucky my small business and I am.

When you run a small business and design your own products, every single day is a gamble. How much do I invest in my designs? Will they sell? Will anyone like them? Will the world see them?

And you are the ones that support me in that. I want everyone in the world to find me. Some days I think: I’m 53 now, I guess perhaps it will be a slog to the end as I sit in my bedroom (old lounge room), cohabiting with ex (all good), wondering if my 1990s Toyota van will make it til the following week and wondering how to keep it all going.

Then I sit in Stitch Queens, my online. Immunity, listening to beautiful stories from people across the globe, we share intimate times in our lives, stitch quietly and I feel blessed. Or people come in to the shop excited or show me their works via email, proudly wearing a t shirt, or fighting nasty folk in the world and I feel happy I’m a part of that.

Small business is extremely tough. You put out a reel, send a newsletter and it might be silent. Now, big business - they just look at stats and work out how to best sell you something different next time. Me, I go looking for cake and coffee to drown my sorrows. Lol.

I shared a post around 7-8 years ago with Elton John’s ‘I’m still standing’ and think I’m still humming that as my theme tune. Will life get easier, will business pick up, how long will I be doing all this, will I ever be able to do a stitching class in a chateau in France? Maybe, maybe not.

But I’m glad you are here with me. X
