Often we hear from our clients that they can't visualise what a fabric will look like when it is made into curtains.

Thanks to technology and AI there are ways that we can give them a better idea of what a curtain may look like.

Many of our suppliers have curtain visualisation tools on their websites. This feature allows you to choose one of their fabrics and look at a render of how it may look.

Then there is ChatGPT, the benefit here is you can use a photo of your window and ask it to show you what it might look like with curtains or blinds on it.

It is important to remember that these tools are a guide only and sometimes the finer details of the real thing is not being shown. In the case of apps like ChatGPT, the image generated may be greatly effected by the instructions given.

So next time you are looking at fabrics in our showroom and not sure what it will look like, we can try these tools to help you.

Why do the fabrics you look at in our showroom look totally different in your home?

The colour of a fabric is how our eyes and brain perceive the wavelengths of light that are reflected off the surface. Different light sources contain different wavelengths. We compare light and colour based on being cool or warm.🌈

If your light bulbs are classified as warm light they will reflect the warmer oranges and reds and if they are cool then the blue-greens will be reflected. 💡

The direction of sunlight entering the room (i.e. north, south, east or west) will also change the way you see a colour. ☀️

Let's look at these photos as an example. The left photo was taken without a flash and looks cooler in nature then the right one taken with the warm light of the flash.

It is for this reason that we recommend that you view the fabric in your home. 🏠

Let's go to Hawaii by way of the Hawaiian Collection by Basford Brands home of Maurice Kain,Sekers,Four Families and Zaab.

This collection consists of Mahalo and Ohana, two drapery weight jacquard fabrics inspired by the lush greenery of the Hawaiian islands. Mahalo's layered leaf motive co-ordinates beautifully with the unstructured stripe of Ohano.

Both are woven at 295cm continuous allowing for seamless curtains and their soft chenille construction gives them a soft and durable making them ideal for both curtains and cushions.
