A cosy home isn’t just about turning up the heat; it’s about layering textures, embracing soft lighting, and surrounding yourself with the little things that bring comfort and joy. And boy, has it just gotten cold in Melbourne all of a sudden?!

Think plush rugs underfoot, extra layers on the bed, the glow of a candle, a crackling fireplace, and a stack of books waiting to be read. It’s all the senses being cosied up and indulged. Mx

Let’s talk collections.

For me, a well-designed home is also a styled one. And I don’t mean staged, I’m referring to the small objects, your favourite things, items that are both beautiful but mean something too. Not everything has to be functional; in fact, I embrace the non-functional!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This collection features a little bit of everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Books. Always
2. Flowers. Also, always. I love following the seasons. Sometimes it’s over-the-top like this, sometimes it’s simple magnolia leaves from the garden.
3. Contrasting shapes and heights. A dish, something tall, something glossy, something matte.
4. Layering. Use books or trays to ground items. The perfect way to display objects without feeling like a smorgasbord.

I like to collect objects everywhere I go and travel, and display them in my own home amongst the Ninjagos, books, and meaningful gifts from the people I love. What about you? Mx

In this month’s gorgeous issue of I loved chatting about home libraries. While a whole room is aspirational, I try to find other cosy spots if the space is not available. A nook in a hallway, under a staircase or other underutilised places can be transformed. A bookshelf can be a true reflection of the owner, filled with their favourite books, of course, but also objects and art that hold meaning and beauty. Are you lucky enough to have a library at home? Textured gold wallpaper features beautifully in this master bedroom suite. At different times of the day the light captures the paper and creates an incredible shimmer and atmosphere. Projects where I get to explore materiality like this are truly special. Mx
