Helena Rose Specialising in Biodegradable Confetti, fresh and dry flowers, Creative workshops & Bespoke Headwear

Hi, I’m Helena Rose, a bespoke designer based in the beautiful Redlands, QLD. I specialise in minimal waste floral design, handcrafted headwear, and creative workshops all created with love, intention, and a deep respect for sustainability and individuality. As a minimal waste designer, I’m always exploring new ways to repurpose flowers and materials, transforming what might have been discarded in

to something beautiful, meaningful, and lasting. My work includes a growing range of biodegradable confetti, fresh and dried floral arrangements, and one-of-a-kind headwear, each piece designed slowly and thoughtfully, with minimal waste in mind. I also love bringing creativity to others through my mobile workshops, where I travel to homes, workplaces, and schools to share my process. Every workshop is disability-inclusive, inspired by my incredible older sister Rose, who the brand is named after. In her honour, I strive to make every class welcoming, accessible, and empowering for all. Crafted with Care, Inspired by Experience

With a background in Fashion Design, I’ve always been drawn to clean lines, bold colour, and modern femininity with a touch of nostalgic charm. My creative journey has taken me across 20+ countries as a stylist, and I’ve been lucky enough to have my work featured in Jute Magazine and Dreamingless Magazine. I trained under French Milliner Estelle Ramousee and Couture Milliner Maor Zabar in Israel, learning the art of craftsmanship that now shapes every floral design and headpiece I create. After graduating in Applied Fashion Design in 2010, I moved from Sydney to Brisbane to explore a more sustainable and personal creative path. Between 2021 and 2025, I ran several retail studios before transitioning into a by-commission practice, focusing on custom designs and mobile workshops that celebrate creativity, connection, and conscious design. Every piece I create tells a story of care, creativity and community. Thank you for being here and supporting a journey built on love, sustainability, and inclusivity.

RESET MODE ACTIVATED

Photo dump because when my socials go quiet… it usually means my hands are elbow deep in reset mode ✨🌿

This week has looked a little less content creation and a lot more behind the scenes.

The design room is slowly coming together, florals are slowly drying for special orders, bottles are getting cleaned and restocked, and in between all of that I’ve been travelling to my beading students and creating on the go.

Long days, messy benches, half-finished cups of tea and absolutely no brain power left to film or edit a video 😅

So instead… here’s a little photo dump of the week that still is haha 🤎

Quiet on socials doesn’t always mean quiet in life — sometimes it just means making, prepping, organising and creating behind the scenes.

…And did I mention we have a house inspection coming up too? Just to add a little extra pressure to the creative chaos and organised mess happening over here 😂🏡

Here’s hoping future me appreciates current me for doing the reset ✨

Week 8 of hand beading with Charlotte 🪡

We’re so close now…

Charlotte has been creating the most beautiful Australian Wildflower inspired piece a flowering gum design in soft pinks, rich reds and touches of mint green.

Week by week it’s been amazing watching this piece slowly build, each bead adding another little layer of texture and detail until the flowers really begin to come alive.

One of my favourite parts of teaching these longer programs is seeing students trust the process — because hand beading isn’t instant, but the end result always feels so rewarding.

And now we’re nearly at the exciting stage… transforming this artwork into a finished wearable piece as either a brooch or hair clip!

I absolutely love seeing these projects move from an idea, to fabric, to something that can actually be worn and treasured.

So proud of how far this one has come 🪡

Today’s Mobile Hand Beading Class ✨🪡🌸

Another beautiful private mobile beading session today — bringing the class to my student and creating together from the comfort of home.

We continued working on our wearable art flower brooches and it’s been so lovely watching both pieces slowly come to life bead by bead.

Jess has been creating hers with rich red beads for the flowers with silver accents and soft brown detailing ❤️✨

I’ve been working on mine in pink tones with gunmetal grey and silver accents and brown detailing 🌸🩶

Next week… we finally start adding the green for the leaves 🍃 which is always the stage where the flowers really begin to come alive.

Also a little sentimental moment… would you believe the base fabric for these brooches is actually an upcycled Kmart native tablecloth? ♻️✨

These tablecloths were originally used at my Christmas workshops in my very first store nearly 5 years ago. I kept them all this time because I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away — and now they’ve found a completely new life in my hand beading classes.

There’s something really special about cutting into something that holds so many memories and transforming it into wearable art that will become part of someone else’s story 🌸 It feels full circle in the nicest way.

If you’ve been wanting to try hand beading, my private one-on-one programs are available in 3, 6 or 8 week options and tailored to your pace, interests and project goals ✨🪡

Native goodness fresh off the workbench

I have such a soft spot for native arrangements. They're a little bit wild, a little bit untamed, and packed full of beautiful textures that somehow all work perfectly together.

This beauty is filled with seasonal Australian natives, interesting foliage and all those little details that make you stop and take a second look. The kind of arrangement that keeps revealing something new every time you walk past it.

One of the things I love most about natives is how long they last. As they age, they dry beautifully and continue to change and evolve, making them a gift that can be enjoyed long after the fresh flowers have finished.

Who else loves Australian natives as much as I do?

The day after Mother’s Day always looks a little different around here 🤍

Today was spent slowly working back through all the flowers from the weekend, finding ways to give every bloom another life instead of letting them go to waste.

Some were carefully pressed, some prepared to be dried for future confetti mixes, and even the little broken pieces were taped and saved to become flower crowns another day. In amongst all the recycling and sorting, I also managed to create some bouquets for customer pickup and bundled up a few sunflowers and walked them around to some of the local businesses along my street to say hello and introduce myself. I think part of me just didn’t want the flowers to disappear yet, so it felt really lovely knowing they’d have a home for a little longer. It ended up being such a nice little walk in the sun too 🤍

Slow floristry has always been my favourite part of this work the quiet moments of creating, preserving, sorting, drying, and appreciating the beauty in what’s left behind. So although I didn’t get through everything I had hoped to today, it was still one of my favourite kinds of days… a chance to slow down for a moment amongst the chaos 🌸

Happy Mother’s Day to my own mum 🤍

My mum is one of the most special people in my life, gentle, strong and quietly supportive in all the ways that matter most. She’s the kind of woman who gives without needing recognition, who always shows up, and who has shaped so much of who I am today.

But more than anything, she is the strongest woman I’ve ever known.

She has cared for my older sister Rosie, who is now 35, every single day of her life, full time, from the very beginning. She has given up so much of her own world to make sure Rosie is loved, safe, and supported in every way possible.

I don’t think I could ever be as strong as her.

She is completely selfless. The kind of mother who doesn’t hesitate, loves unconditionally and just keeps going even when life gives her many challenges, with so much love in her heart. And in so many ways, my brand Helena Rose is named after that love, after my sister Rose and after everything my mum has poured into our family.

Being a florist on Mother’s Day is such a strange feeling when your mum lives in another state.

You spend the whole day making flowers for everybody else’s mums, carefully wrapping bouquets filled with love, while wishing you could hand-deliver one to your own.

So instead, I send her photo updates each day while I’m working showing her what it would be like if she was nearby, and all the flowers she gets to live through from afar!

So just know, when you order a Helena Rose bouquet for Mother’s Day (or any day really) I’m also creating it as if it were going to my own mum… which means it will be just as special going to yours.

And thank you all, truly for all the support this year in my new space. I completely sold out of mixed bouquets this morning and I’m so grateful for every order, every message, every customer and every bit of support shown to my little studio. 🤍
