Hi, I'm Shalini, and I would like to call myself as a person who loves and who is so very passionate about "all things interior". I was born and brought up in India and therefore had the privilege of experiencing architecture and spaces (palaces, churches, temples etc) and came across such mind blowing design in terms of colour, pattern, texture etc I guess from a very early age, coming home from
boarding school, I was very enthusiastic about re-arranging furniture and decor, choosing removable upholstery fabrics etc. And every time I tried to re-organise our living room at home, my father would be full of appreciation for my efforts, which certainly had an effect on my interest in this field. I still remember going to different places and spaces and being moved by the feeling that each interior tried to convey. For example, on a cold rainy night, I remember having dinner in a Tibetan Restaurant, which was essentially a large tent pitched in the middle of town. It was not very well lit up, except for the powder coated steel dome pendant light hanging over each table. The ground was uncovered and slushy from the rain. But I remember the feeling of utter contentment and sheer delight sitting under that warm light, eating hot food. There was nothing fancy about the place but I wouldn't have chosen to be anywhere else. I completed a Masters in Business and Marketing, but moving to Australia, opened up doors to studying Interior Decoration and Design. And that is how I decided to follow my true calling. There are some things in your head that just don't go away. And thinking about doing up an interior space is one thing for me. I think about it sometimes even in my sleep. What colors go with what, planning the space effectively, furniture placement etc.. In short, I think and dream about interiors at least 16 hours of a 24 hour day. I live in a country town in Victoria, and I understand how some things are not accessible or available readily as it would be if one was living in a city. And that is where the internet and technology comes to the rescue. I realized that I could reach out to more people by offering my services regardless of where they are. And that is how the concept of "E-Design" was created. I want my services to be available to "everyone" in terms of affordability, as every human spirit yearns to be surrounded by beautiful things and spaces.
