I was gonna post a big long-winded carousel of all my nice friends and pictures of my studio, but there are too many to choose from and it felt corny, embarrassing, and way too long for IG. So instead I’ll just say I’ve been very blessed to be surrounded by people who are funny, interesting, smart and most importantly, really mentally ill. I moved to Australia at 18 with no money, no skills, no friends, and I’m leaving with three lifetimes’ worth of family, a sick body of work and the most loving partner. When WW3 breaks out I know I can come back to a wealth of love. I am truly the richest of them all.
Nothing I’ve achieved in the last 15 years would have happened without you. Thank you to everyone who supported my work, gave this little fgit a shot and nurtured my artistic language. Ursula, Patrick, Charly, Jess, Bridget, Laura, Evey, Ruby, Sarah, Kyle, Rebecca, Jemima, Emmy, Tantri, Myles, Ramesh, Dale, Bella, Anthony, Scotty, Liam, Chris, Emil, Andy and Mitch, Ursula and Jo, Tony, Kate, Ewan, Simone, Andrew, David, Sam, Megan, Michael (rip), Mali, Mal, Beci, Nadia, Lizzy, Tobi and Jimmy, Colin and Ilona, Lisa and Glenn, Boots, Louise, Sarah, Rae-ann and Nige, Holly, Kat, Brad, Dash, Frances, Mum and Dad, Maria and Nic — and of course my favourites, my rocks, my sweet dog Beatrix (may she watch over us) and my hairy juicy rat Bobby. I’ve gathered so much wisdom from you all. I’m so lucky. If I’m forgetting anyone sorry I am jet lagged.
I’m excited to develop my work on this side of the world. I was working right up to the last minute — literally packed my final box an hour before my flight. I always get it done. To everyone who bought work before I left: your support made this stupid artist’s life possible.
Lastly, to : you have supported me unconditionally these last 10 years, especially through the chaos of the last few months. You sorted the house and emptied my studio with no complaints (only tears). I love you, Primary Bean. I’ll pop my remaining works online in the coming days. And if you’re in London, come and give me a kiss x
