Handmade comes from a Christian Fischbacher collection built around Arcadia: the old idea of a perfect, unspoilt countryside.⁠
⁠
The florals are hand-painted in Fischbacher’s own studio before they ever reach fabric, and you can see it. The lines aren’t mechanical. There’s a looseness to them that a pattern drawn on a screen never quite gets.⁠

Their creative director Camilla Fischbacher describes the collection as celebrating rural life, with a natural look and feel.⁠
⁠
100% Italian linen, heavy with a soft handle. Soft neutrals through to saffron yellow and sky blue. Lovely as curtains, just as good on a bedhead or cushions.⁠

Some fabrics announce themselves. Florence isn’t one of them.⁠

Villa Nova have kept this one deliberately quiet: a fine, regular grain running across the surface and very little else going on. The pattern is there, but you notice the texture first, then the way light moves across it. It’s mostly cotton, so it has the soft, slightly irregular handle a synthetic never quite manages.⁠

The practical part: Florence comes in a wide width. Fewer seams across a large window, which on a big living room span or a run of glass doors is the difference between curtains that read as one continuous piece and curtains where you can find the joins.⁠

Our latest Wembley Downs install are custom made sheers in a best seller Carter, in the shade Moon from Charles Parsons Interiors. It’s a plain woven continuous sheer in 100% polyester with a raw, woven look and a weighted hem, which helps each panel hang straight and settle cleanly at the floor. At 330 cm wide it suits generous windows, and it softens the daylight without closing the room off.⁠

Zepel’s Happiness is a chunky bouclé sheer that’s earning its place in a lot of Perth homes right now and it’s easy to see why. Tiny, wrinkled bouclette yarns of mixed composition woven together into a heavenly mesh construction that manages to be minimalist in approach and maximum in impact.
