Guildford Heritage Project: Part 1 (The Design & Layout)

TSG recently commenced a restoration on a grand, turn-of-the-century residence in the historical town of Guildford, WA.

The original Federation entry glass was tired and worn out. To bring this entrance back to its former glory, our team conducted a thorough inspection of the home's surviving architectural features. By drawing direct design cues from the intricate timber fretwork and ornate ceiling roses, we created a custom theme deeply rooted in the details of yesteryear.

Pictured below: The first stage of our artisan process. Traditional varieties of glass have been meticulously hand-cut and dry-laid into place according to our custom template.

Over the coming days, we will share the structural leading-up process followed by the final installation. Stay tuned to follow the progress.

✨ Mt Lawley Stained Glass Series – Part 4 ✨

To finish our Mt Lawley series, we're stepping back to appreciate how the stained glass works throughout the home as a whole.

While each window is beautiful in its own right, it's when they come together that the real impact is felt — creating a cohesive flow of colour, light and architectural character throughout the residence.

This project remains one of our favourites and a great example of how stained glass can become an integral part of a home's design.

This individual feature window may be smaller in scale than some of the other pieces throughout the home, but it plays an important role in bringing colour, light and character into the space.

The combination of textured glass, decorative leadwork and carefully selected colours creates a focal point that changes throughout the day as the light shifts.

Sometimes it's the quieter details that have the biggest impact.
