One inspiration. One room. Completely different results

This week we tried our first Sheree Smith inspired workshop and I still can’t get over how different every artwork became.

Same starting point.
Different colour palettes.
Different marks.
Different personalities.

There’s something really special about watching a room full of adults realise they don’t have to be “good at art” to create something they actually love. (And that looks so good!)

No pressure.
No experience needed.
Just colour, layers and a really lovely night out.

And because we had so much fun… we’re doing it again next week 💕

One thing nobody tells you when you open an art studio…

The leftovers are BEAUTIFUL.

So instead of washing perfectly good paint down the sink, we started saving it. (It’s much better for the environment too!)

🎨 Leftover paint becomes a community canvas
✂️ Paint palettes become collage paper
🥄 Paint spoons… we’re collecting those for something special (ideas welcome 👀)

Turns out creativity doesn’t end when the workshop does.

It changes shape.

I always love seeing the moment they stop making “a craft”… and start telling stories.

A reminder that creativity isn’t about making perfect things.

Today our weekly after school makers started something that looked… questionable at first 👀

Big blocks of colour. No obvious ‘pictures’ or shapes. No pressure to make it “look like something”.

And then slowly… the layers started talking to each other.

This week they’re creating Sheree Smith inspired canvases and honestly we are already obsessed with where these are heading.

And good news for the grown ups—
our first adults canvas workshop is this Friday.

Paint. Platters. BYO drinks. Zero experience needed.

A lot less small talk than your average night out 😏

Join us for an evening of crafting while we listen to a true crime case unfold together. No experience needed just come as you are, settle in, and make something with your hands.

You’ll leave with a a calmer nervous system and probably at least one new conspiracy theory 🕵️‍♀️✨

Introducing Open Studio 🖌️

A creative space where you can drop in, settle in for up to 2 hours, and choose from a menu of colourful projects to make. Think canvases, collages, photoframes, sparkly crafts and more.

Unlike our guided workshops, Open Studio lets you create at your own pace and choose the projects that spark your imagination.

Before we lock in dates, we’d love your help!

So many of you have been asking for adult workshops… and they’re finally here 🎨

Join us for a relaxed, joy-filled evening creating your own Sheree Smith inspired A2 canvas in the colour palette of your choice. No experience needed, just a love of colour, creativity and a few hours to switch your brain off for a while.

We’ll have the cheese platters ready, art supplies provided, good music playing and plenty of space to create at your own pace. BYO wine if you’d like to make a night of it 🍷🧀

You’ll head home with a large statement artwork ready to frame and hang proudly in your home.

These workshops are intentionally small and the first session is NEXT WEEKEND, so if you’ve been waiting for an adults night at The Colour Club… this is your sign 💕

POV: The official Fremantle Dockers fan podcast gives your little craft studio a shout out… so naturally we respond the only way we know how.

With excessive glitter, emotionally unnecessary sparkles, and at least one button and pom pom combo. 💜

Thanks to for the love and for trusting us with birthday chaos, paint-covered children and giving them access to enough craft supplies to threaten a small vacuum cleaner.

Craft challenge for the is on the cards I think….

Not every childhood memory needs to be polished, productive or perfect.

Sometimes the magic looks like paint on hands, deep concentration, belly laughs with new friends and the freedom to create something completely their own.

At The Colour Club, we believe creativity builds confidence, connection and joy and kids deserve spaces where they can explore all three.
