Whilst i attempt to put together some kind of reel/video for you all regarding the start to finish of the ToyBox i thought I'd let you all in on what the next project will be.

That is our Kitchen Table situation.

That situation being we currently dont have one. Having somewhat limited dining space we're having to get a little creative with the use of said space. We know what we really want to do and create in the future as something more permanent but for now we are going to work with what items we have sitting in the shed.

I aquired an old Standard treadle sewing machine stand that had been repurposed into a table from facebook marketplace some time ago. So I'm going to turn that into our dining table. I've also got an idea for simple seating and space saving which requires some repurposing of an old corner TV entertainment unit.

Things from this project i feel i'm likely to learn or meet challenges with will be

• Navigating the use of paint stripper for the intricate details within the frame work of the treadle base
• Creating a comfortable seating base using seating foam and creatingnits own cover (I've got next to no sewing ability)
• creating a unique top for our table that imbues originality, excitement and creates conversation.
• Sourcing or creating wheels for the base of the treadle i may have to get very creative with this here because id like for it to be moveable without it causing serious damage to my tiles. This is so i can use the table like and Island bench when working with large meal prep or in the kitchen with the kids.
• As always with everything i take on the bar i set for it to be perfect and just right is always my biggest challenge

So there you have it the big plan which like any plan sounds great in theory and in black and white.

Below is a quick pic of the table as is that i snapped with Little Gilly #1 who insisted she stand by it while i snapped away.

Since my last post there have been some changes within the household the biggest one being that the littlest Gillys are in Daycare now for two days a week. That being said i am now hoping i can work on completing more projects.

And so Here is the latest completion.

From this Delightfully bright Free Toy box i aquired some years ago from marketplace to this completed clean modern looking result.

It has not been without its challenges but then again mass produced and cheaply made products like this once pulled apart have proven to have their issues.

This project is perfect in its imperfections because i have learned so much from taking this on. Things like what i will do differently next time and what tools my cabinet is lacking.

I have a pretty big project coming up so watch this space for more updates and im hoping to get up a timelapse progress video of the toy box for you all soon

Fresh paint - love it or Loathe it?

Me personally I love it.

Gives me feels of starting anew with a fresh canvas for creating on. It makes me think of change because who wants to be and do the same all the time right.

Seriously folks what a ride the end of last year was.
For all my keeness was high to complete projects but the time i managed to find for myself without little children hanging from every limb to complete a project safely without added stressors was very minimal. Like most of us when the end of the day comes and you finally get that moment to yourself often times its then you just cbf doing anything even if those things bring you much joy.

This year that changes!
I have commited to finishing and uploading a few pieces from start to finish and really putting more effort into this because i really do love it. It challenges me, it tries my patience, i have to problem solve and think on my feet, i get to work with my hands, it allows me to get and be a little bit creative, its something i can do just for me and i always feel satisfaction and gratification when something is finally complete.

So despite setbacks and a workshop thats currently in shambles, today i have jumped back on in to finish a job i started. Its my One job these next few days with no side quests if i can help it. No promises on that though 😉🤪

The sun has been shining and with weather like this how could we not venture out of the shed.

So we set up on the table and we were able to slap a little bit of an undercoat on the box. Theres still a little more touching up to do for the undercoat but its looking good so far 😊

So today i had an idea! For a while now we've been needing a new Toilet roll holder. There wasn't one here when we bought the place and until now we have had the old triangular wire with a bit of dowel. Its been doing a bloody good job considering it was just something Fraser had knocked up in the shed with scraps we had lying around.
There's one we found online we really liked but the price tag i didn't and i thought it's simple enough i could make it myself and i was going to make the exact same thing until this little idea popped into my mind.
Its not perfect but i smashed it together in a couple of hours. So there are some tweaks i may yet make but for now I'm rather happy with the result.

Items used:
Emro Toilet Roll Holder Chrome Plated Steel $12.60 Mitre 10 Pt Augusta
Medium & Narrow Bamboo Drawer Tidy $3.00 KHub Pt Augusta
Screws and rubber O Ring i already had

The original idea we liked would have cost us $51.46 on Amazon they look absolutely nothing alike but serve the same purposes.

Whilst the final coat on my current project is drying, bubbling and requiring investigative and restoration attention i have shifted focus onto something i started quite some time back and decided to finish it off today .

Its finally had its clear coat and since it's fully dry i decided to put it together today.
This Baby Play Gym will be gifted in just a few weeks time.

Hey it aint perfect and with the kids helping hands around there is a few little nicks and scratches but with whom its being gifted to it will be all the more special for it 🥰

Today we aquired this piece!
I probably have way too many projects lining our shed right now but when you get the chance to save an old piece like this from ending up in pieces and finding its way to the tip, how could i possibly say no to the offer!!

This old girls going to be a big job but she will be beautiful once completed.
