Not all Cream Legbars offer the same breeding certainty! At KK’s Chicks & Blooms, our Avgen Cream Legbars have been genetically tested and confirmed homozygous for the blue egg gene—giving breeders greater confidence when planning their next generation. 🐔✨

🧬 WHAT MAKES OUR AVGEN CREAM LEGBARS DIFFERENT?

Our birds carry two copies of the blue egg gene. A homozygous bird passes one copy to every chick, making this a valuable foundation for breeding programs focused on blue eggshell colour.

While this does not guarantee that every offspring will lay the same shade of blue—egg colour can also be influenced by other genes and the genetics of the other parent—it provides a clear and reliable genetic advantage for breeders.

🧬 HOW DO STANDARD AUSTRALIAN CREAM LEGBARS COMPARE?

Standard Australian Cream Legbars can vary depending on their breeding lines. Some may carry one copy of the blue egg gene, while others may carry two. Without genetic testing, their status may not be confirmed.

A bird carrying only one copy may pass the gene to approximately 50% of its offspring, depending on the pairing. This can make breeding outcomes less predictable, and some offspring may not inherit the blue egg gene or may produce eggs with a different shell colour eg. Beige.
