(link in profile) I create whenever I can, because it’s integral to my life – has been ever since I can remember!

My arts focus includes eco printing and dyeing (fashion, accessories; textile art); mixed media (handbound books; assemblages), stitching, and drawing.

Eucalypts, unlike deciduous trees, routinely lose (let loose) their leaves to conserve water in dry periods, remove accumulated toxins, and make room for fresh growth. Loose knots, loose threads, loose leaves!

Kookaburra inspiration - 2 feathers found on the ground, left by a kookaburra who visits regularly! He also had a mate last summer and we could see their home from our back verandah, in a hollow tree near the creek. I stitched the pair in flight using a fly stitch after attaching the feathers, with foliage worked in backstitch and detached chain, and (appropriately) feather stitch! I added a few grasses and wildflowers as finishing touches. The background was collaged weeks ago, incorporating naturally dyed and transfer-printed cloth. The last image is of a stitched collage of mine which includes the feather in photo 3.
