Dining tables are places where food, wine, laughter and life flourish. Rich, warm native timbers like our amazing Australian Red Gums are perfect partners.
This commissioned 2.2m table was made from huge pieces of redgum salvaged from a carpentry workshop and needed 93 (I had to count) machinery bolt holes and cutouts plugged and filled. Finished with three coats of varnish and some beeswax, it's ready to host generations of happy diners!

The brief was to integrate 10 Spanish tiles (collected over the years of travelling) into a custom made coffee table as a surprise Christmas present. Using WA Jarrah, the tiles sit flush with the table surface and complement the deep reds of this beautiful timber.

The brief: create two enormous outdoor (2.4m) planter boxes to deliver some dazzle to a grey wall. I sourced some beautiful grained Qld red gum and almost cried when I had to paint it charcoal. I almost cried again when I had to shift 80metres of it home, biscuit joint it together and assemble on site. Derek’s testing the location out here - at around 150kgs each empty, once these get loaded up with some stunning bamboo, there not moving!!! What fun creating them!!

Within hours of planting this little Leuwins honeyeater had spotted my new grevillea! Plant more natives for our birds and bees!!
