Merredin 120km was a terrific warm-up for the TQ! Many thanks to the WERI team for hosting another excellent ride. We started at midnight alongside the 160km riders, which was great practice for us to get into the mode of night-time riding.

Norbert Radny and Pembrooke Park Royalty (Max) line honours, 1st HWT and BC in the 120km. Max was a powerhouse the whole day and enjoyed his new fashion accessory - a bonnet! He was the most relaxed he has ever been at base and on course. Max thoroughly enjoyed himself.

Bec A M Rad and West Coast Kia (Kia) line honours, 1st LWT and BC in the 120km. This was Kia's first ride with more than 3 legs and she took to the challenge stoically. It was also her first ridden workout for BC- where she nearly launched into the sky in her hand-gallop!

Jane Radny and Steel Poppy Regent (Reg) completed 80km and then chose to withdraw as Reg was not recovering as perfectly as he normally does despite feeling magnificent out on track.

Thank you to the volunteers who worked around the clock in the chilly night-time temps and the warm day, to sponsors for supporting the event, and again to the WERI team!

Thank you Vince and Judy Evans from DownUnder Images for taking the photos from Bakers Hill Endurance Ride. The horses felt amazing throughout the day. Very proud of them and it was great to practice VGIH ( even without strappers!).

A good fun weekend at the WAERA State Championships hosted by the Wheatbelt Endurance Riders Inc at Bakers Hill this weekend.

Bec & West Coast Kia (Kia): 1st LWT and BC LWT
Jane & Steel Poppy Regent (Reg): 2nd MWT and BC MWT
Norb & Pembrooke Park Royalty (Max): 1st HWT and BC HWT.

We took the ‘A’ team to ride in the 80km. We weren’t sure what we would be faced with track wise as the area had received over 130ml of rain in the week leading up to the ride! Areas were certainly saturated and we had to go slowly through multiple boggy sections and overflowed dams, but there were areas where we could go along!

The team ate up the course and relished the company of riders Leigh and Shirley on the second leg. They presented for BC this morning looking strong, fit and bright as buttons!

A huge thank you to the ride organisers for going above and beyond, and to the sponsors and volunteers for making the event possible. A special thank you to Darren for allowing us to camp on and ride through your property.

Bring on the Tom Quilty!

Kia thinks the scratches at the end of the ride are worth the effort of going on the ride in the first place!

We forgot to add to the last post that, at Allanson, Jane achieved her 15 000 km of successful completions.

"Thank you to my most wonderful horses (some still with us and others who we have tearfully farewelled). especially Inez Al Nimir +CH ( the magnificent "Tiger" over 5000km ), Arbour Grange Shalifa (2970km) , West Coast Natanya (2700km) and, Steel Poppy Regent (3500km) . In addition , I have completed almost 2000km of Intermediate and social rides as well and goodness knows how many km of training' out the back'."
