Drunken Sailor is a Sydney-based brand founded by Justin Arnoux, a passionate food lover with a rich culinary legacy. The team handcrafts premium jams, relishes and mustards, packing them with high-quality ingredients and bold flavours.

We spoke to Justin to learn more about the business, why he started it and how their transition to Great Wrap has been.

From the start of this year, mandatory climate-related disclosures began rolling out for large businesses in Australia. The purpose? To align with global efforts to address climate change and ensure transparency.

Companies will have to disclose climate risks and opportunities, the impacts of these risks, processes for identifying them and the metrics used to assess progress — while taking positive steps towards emissions reduction.

Under Scope 3 emissions, companies may be required to report their supply chain waste, including packaging, and the associated emissions.

The environmental impact of the recovery rate decline is huge — these reports show us that only 6% of traditional pallet wrap is being recovered, while another portion ends up in landfill, where it can remain there for hundreds of years.

We often talk about the importance of diversifying end of life options to support a circular economy, but it becomes even more evident when you see statistics like this.

Climate-wise, 2025 has had a distressing start. Last year was the warmest on record, with temperatures exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius, and we’re now witnessing catastrophic wildfires tearing through the streets of LA.

More than ever, it’s time to work together and minimise our impact on the planet. Despite the urgency of the crisis, we’re seeing a rise in climate change denial and governments failing to respond seriously. It sadly feels like the responsibility falls on us — both as individuals and businesses — to make better choices.

Is becoming more sustainable one of your New Year’s resolutions? If not, it’s never too late to start. This year, take steps to clean up your supply chain, shop locally and organically, shorten your shower time, turn off light switches and compost 🖤

That's a wrap (literally!) Re Place is now closed for 2024 and will reopen on Saturday 11th January. We wanted to share one last post for the year to say a huge and heartfelt thanks to each person who took the time to drop by on a Wednesday with your unwanted and/or damaged clothes ❤

Collectively you dropped off 820kg of clothes and textiles for recycling! ♻

We sent a total of 6 pallets of clothes and textiles to to be recycled, which was accumulated over our 6 month clothes and textile waste pilot. We work through every 'Re': rethink, reduce, reuse, repair and repurpose before we recycle and this 820kg of clothing was what was left after we did that 🙌

And for those of you looking at the photo and thinking, 'geez that's an awful lot of plastic to wrap their pallets with!' You can be rest assured that we used compostable pallet wrap from the amazing Great Wrap 😉

We will be releasing the full report from our clothes and textile waste pilot in early 2025 so stay tuned for statistics and data on what we reused and repurposed as well 📊

Lastly (but definitely not least!) a mighty thank you to every single one of our volunteers who sorted through endless and massive piles of clothing, did countless hours of data entry to ensure we gathered valuable information, transformed clothing into bags, rags, bundles of fabric and more and hung thousands of items of clothing onto our racks for resale. Without all of you Re Place would not exist and our community would not have access to our services. Thank you! 🙏💚

During the festive season, food waste increases by 30%, amounting to 10.3 million meals going to waste in Australia.

This can be reduced by creating accurate shopping lists and avoiding overcooking. If you do end up with leftovers, wrap them with compostable cling wrap to minimise your waste!
