Konnichiwa from Niigata, Japan. A lot's of 🌧 🌦. No farming, no rice harvest at the moment.

Instead of it, I do a bit of pieces, making kimono dresses, coordinating OriOru 折を織る project, admin and houschores(this is my main task here😅) ...

I have received the wonderful one-off items made of super antique kimonos, Tenugui tea towels, and Nobori banner flags from Keiko, Kakegawa, Shizuoka, Japan. So, I have just shipped it and will get there in the next 2 weeks.

2 full-length dresses made of Persimon and iron dyed Yukata fabrics. We can cut your length and also super reasonable 😎

Uni-sex shirts
One style is a fisherman's shirt called Uogashi shirts. This style is popular at Shizuoka
2nd style is Aloha shirts made of Vintage kid's Yukata

3rd Styke is a super wide shirt. I tried. Actually settled well🫡

Since January, I’ve been spending most of my time back in Japan to support my parents. I want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by our shorter opening hours while I’ve been away.

I’m so grateful to Jimmy and all makers for doing such a wonderful job holding here, Cozy messy Grandma's house.I am truly filled with deep gratitude for the amazing staff and every single one of you, our wonderful customers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Starting this Sunday, I’ll be heading back to my parents' home again to help out with household chores and the seasonal harvest. While I’m away, the shop will be in the very capable hands of Jimmy, Manami, Bonnie, Keiko, Sachiko, and Michella.

We would be so grateful for your continued support during this time. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon! I will be at shop this Sat, So it would be wonderful if you pop in🤗🙇‍♀️🙏💞

Weaving the moments in between

Mount Sumon fades into white.

The city grows quiet.

The rhythm of a loom.

Niigata.

Living with snow.
Living with the seasons.

Rice fields in spring.
Festivals remembered.
Winter endured.

Time moves on.
One season into another.
One life into the next.
One generation reaching toward tomorrow.

Never hurried.
Never loud.

Clothing that lingers
between what was
and what is yet to come.

Landscapes woven.
Memories carried forward.
New moments waiting to unfold.

I have been thinking and thinking about what message I really want to give all through the Orioru Project, which I have been practically practising with ;

I have been living in Japan for over 6 months, and it made the delay of the project. However, the time has given me a big gift, such as life philosophy🤗😁

I love the woven fabric and time/age/genderless basic fashion, but I also love to be a storyteller about the Japanese country life and local cultures to you.

It's a bit messy schedule, and I am not able to tell you what's exactly happened yet.
But definitely, please keep your eyes what the storyteller will show you🤗💞 I am sure, even though I couldn't, the talented acompany will be complete and show you this year🌈

The 25th exhibition of 国際墨画会 has just started from 10th June.

This morning, I was so excited to visit with my Uni friends for the 2 exhibitions, which are held at the same time at 国立新美術館 The National Art Center, Tokyo. Because my friend is a member of the calligraphy exhibition and I joined the Sumie exhibition for the first time.

I enjoyed the Sumi-ink for a whole day with a few coffee breaks with friends,....chatterbox 😁

Back to the main story this time about 国際墨画会
What's an amazing association whoever can join in and practice through the local master or online lessons. And really good curriculum through the nice simple textbooks. Even me, I was enjoying to keep going easily. Of course, we have the wonderful master couple, Mr. And Mrs. Kojima.
Especially Fumiko sensei and wonderful colleagues always encourage me and make me positive.
I deeply really appreciate them. Arigato 🙇‍♀️ 🙏

It's really One-off, super craftyhandmade by "のどか" Shizuoka handmade team!
There are made with super antique Nobori flags のぼり旗, antique Kimomos, and antique Donna cover 布団袋.

They are also patching offcuts fabrics and made Brisbane winter jackets.

The first about 20 items are displayed in shop now.

And now, we are about to collaborate once again with .

Right now, .walsh from .studio is creating original fabric designs for the new project.
Stay tuned to see what is coming next through Kat’s vision 😎🤗💞

For this collaboration, we are also joined by several incredibly talented Japanese fashion creators — especially , who will soon present her work in Paris, and , who is involved in the collection as a pattern maker.

This is truly exciting.
We cannot wait to see how this collaborative showcase with .studio will unfold in Brisbane 🤗💞

And of course, we must mention the special presence of Ms. Hara from .
She is the true superstar who listens carefully to our design ideas and transforms them into practical weaving plans and beautiful fabrics.

Through the upcoming projects, we will introduce these beautifully woven textiles.
The storyteller behind this journey will be local photographer and creator 🤗🫡
