I have a thing for items that hold part of my family history within them. I have a number of items like tea cups and linen tea towels, and brooches, as well as some handmade things like this. Seeing them always brings a smile to my face.

This little guy popped up during our recent packing and unpacking. It's been a few years since I made him but I do remember making him from a larger pattern but using crochet thread and a smaller hook to miniaturised him. He's a tad wonky and his eyes are uneven but he still has some love to give...

What have I been up to lately? Well, teddy bears are done and off to their new home and as my plan for this financial year had a major stumbling block, in the way of yet another house move, I will be reworking it to make the most of the year that's left while sadly not making the most of Christmas sales due to the 2 months of not making. On the up note, I am hoping to incorporate the learning of new skills and upgrading of others (particularly spinning and weaving).

Here I have a 45-50cm mandala that can add a lovely splash of colour to a room without overtaking it completely. It is great for renters.

This beauty took a while to complete (and has many mistakes) and I'd had the kit for a while before that! It still needs its ends sewn in and to be blocked, but if feels lovely and drapey and not too warm for our climate.

It is safe to say this pattern has taught me more about knitting (and the importance of counting ๐Ÿซฃ), fixing dropped stitches and a few new techniques. Something just for me, so perfection wasn't the goal but to enhance my knitting skill and patience for larger items was. I'd say I'm winning with this.

Charlie says she's craving sushi... so I spent a few hours getting it sorted while she's at art class (I tried to convince her that a suhi bowl is just as tasty, to save me the rolling time, but she didn't agree ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜œ). I don't know why the combination of chicken, sticky rice, some salad bits and Kewpie Mayo is soooo good.

You can probably see a jar of onion skins (in the top right of the pic) I've been adding to so I can try some natural dying with them; I had them out as I was pickling some red onions in some Jun vinegar I had lying around and also prepped some carrot and celery sticks in jars of water to keep them fresher for longer. Getting back into the kitchen has reminded me what I loved about cooking.

Note: oops I mispronounced scheepjes ๐Ÿซฃ even though I saw their video and know how to pronounce it...love my brain ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ

I know, I know... I'm hanging out for some finished handmade items to post too ๐Ÿ˜œ but this is where I am right now... housework/unpacking/organising u til lunch and then afternoon and evening to craft. I k ow I am going to need a couple of curtain drops for my sliding door for the afternoon sun that comes blaring through as in summer that will not be as nice. Ok... off to unpack my craft book collection now. Thanks for checking in!
