When we go to markets, festivals and special events, it’s always a wonderful opportunity to really have some great chats with people.

Nearly every time, there’s a conversation where people open up and share about themselves in ways that are really candid and deep, leaving a lasting impression on us, and them too.

We are gifted this amazing window into their world, because they feel seen enough to share.

Why you might ask? Well.. it’s because we already know our beeswax candles sell themselves, so we get to enjoy really connecting with people and asking them how a beeswax candles can fit into their world. Short burn? Long burn? Meditation? Gift? Dinner party? What they had in mind when they stopped at our stall.

Then we share which candles fit with that! It’s truly an incredible way to do business.

Along the way as we chat, we share how to burn beeswax candles (yes it’s a thing) and the vast benefits, and of course the bees!

We always come home on a high, our lives made richer by human connection and people’s stories.

Many of those conversations have led to friendships and ongoing reciprocity of life. And truly, isn’t that why we are here?

We created a recycling program that encourages our customers to bring back what’s left of their beeswax candles once they get to the end.

We offer a discount off their next candle purchase, depending on the weight of the wax.

It was Ian’s brilliant idea, so that we could use as much of the beeswax as possible, reducing waste, and honouring the work the bees do in making it.

Once we receive the recycling/finished candles, we run the beeswax through a rigorous cleaning process, and make the candles we use from it in our home.

For our own integrity, and being able to trust that our customers can guarantee a perfect burn, we only sell the beeswax we receive from our apiarists, cleaned with one micron.

What gets recycled, we use! And let me say, the candles are still beautiful, equally so to be honest. But what makes it super special is that we know that what we are burning in our home, is the end result of both our customers, and us, caring enough about the bees, and the beeswax they make, to make the effort to recycle.

The gift of living in reciprocity with each other, with the bees, with nature, is incredibly fulfilling.
