I'm visiting Canberra Quilters Inc. this weekend for two days of workshops. Such an open minded group of enthusiasts! Enjoyed seeing Angela's finished Sweet Tweets by Irene Blanck . Tim for a bit of hotel stitching and sleep while I'm here!!!! At home is been a trio of dog sitting for a month as kids travel. We love the dogs and watching their pack mentality while clocking up lots of steps with two long walks per day. As we head through the bush walk near our house the birds are on high alert! A special Happy Father's Day to Oscar!

Pardon the sounds of the crowd! Phew! It's been fairly hectic around these parts having moved the shop, spent 3 weeks teaching and recovering just in time for the Hunters Hill Show! Starting to feel like today is the first day of the rest of my life! Next up will be packing our bOM program. Check out these three beauties and more in the Material Obsession website! Lots of great choices. For those of you that have signed up kits will go out early September.

We love a Wendy Williams pattern and this one is a favourite. It's a modern looking quilt filled with skill building blocks coming to life with Art Gallery Fabrics® - AGF Pure Solids. Our choice for solids is always Pure Solids. I love the soft texture and saturated colours in the huge range. Join this program by signing up on the Matetisl obsession website and if you have any questions please email [email protected] for answers. Starting in about a month!

We are rolling out our popular 2026 Block Of The Month program soon. I'll be introducing the new quilts over the next few days starting here with Riad Home designed by Hat-creek-quilts and made using fableism supply co and Purity Linen/cotton blend backgrounds. Afraid of applique? These big blocks make it easy with soft curves that are easy to stitch. Check out the Material Obsession website for details and email us if you want info on shipping costs. Keep your fingers busy and ease your mind!

Nothing says community more than a quilt show! Friends gather with helping hands to make the best show possible. Every other year for 30 years I have enjoyed the gathering of forces that make the Hunters Hill Quilters show a calendar must. The quilts are diverse and creative, the atmosphere in the Hunters Hill Town Hall is rich with history and supported and sponsored by Hunters Hill Council. Come for the quilts but stop to sip a cuppa and enjoy a tasty treat. I'll be making my family favourite pumpkin bread! The gals have been busy making our popular Wagga as well as lots of quilts for sale amongst hand made craft items. Come say hi! Wear your best carry! I'll be there waiting for you!!! Home now. There is nothing quite like that coastal view when after 16 hours in the air, at last there is land where there was only sky. In truth I love the space and time of the long flight. It takes a lot for me to stop moving and I enjoyed the memories of my trip while making plans for my return sitting still. You know, travelling to teach is so much more than the classroom time. I enjoy a morning walk exploring the different environments. Cornfields, rabbits, deer and squirrels caught my eye...peaceful, quiet places. This trip I got to walk some old familiar paths and caught up with my best friend from high school! The stories, laughs and tears we shared brought back long lost feelings of connection. It's fun to sample different food, spaces and of course all the people who quickly become friends to savour. Organic Applique is a process that opens people up. The room quickly fills with happy chatting as we share life experiences over stitches. A week spans before us and then, all too quickly...it is behind us. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend time with so many wonderful people. To watch them overcome their inhibitions is a real joy. How lucky are we that our differences don't get in the way of joining our creative spirits. I count each one you all as my friend and hope our paths cross again. I was happy to head out with the dogs and am excited to get back into the new shop but it was a great trip with lots to be happy about. Thank you to Woodland Ridge Retreat Sue Spargo and Quilting by the Lake for hosting me these last three weeks.

Snippets from around campus at Quilting by the Lake! Organic Applique is in full swing and the room is full of unique projects full of imagination. When not in class there are activities from show and tell to lectures and a visit to the Schweinfurth Art Center Sharing space and time with Valerie Scruggs Goodwin and Sherri Lynn Wood has been a delight! Sue Spargo's shop is an imagination magnet... you can easily allow yourself to be enveloped by color, texture and design in this space surrounded by so many wonderful ideas. I loved the grouping of samples, patterns, kits and materials that instantly brought not only the why but the how together. I loved the inviting walls of color in wools, threads and the massive collection of fabric. I loved the collections treats from the garden to the kitchen. Teaching here enveloped in a collection of perfect options for our quilts was an experience of a lifetime. This family run business has soul and service combined perfectly so everyone feels welcome. It's a bucket list location in Union Town, Ohio (Akron/Canton area). Easy to get to and impossible to leave. Thanks so much for inviting me here! Sue Spargo
