For the main bathroom at our Mosman project, we paired deep olive green tiles with a warm timber and a veined marble - a palette that feels rich without taking itself too seriously.

The oversized mirrored cabinets keep thing practical, while the tapers and ceramic sink give the vanity a bit more presence.

OBSESSED is an understatement. The clients wanted to have a little fun with the design of their WC so we decided fun meant a bold red tile and a natural stone to suit.

Heritage inspired flooring serve as a nod to the rest of the cottage.

More soon of our Mosman Cottage renovation - due to start on site shortly.

MOSMAN // A new chapter for this Mosman Cottage.

We’re excited to share that the building contract has been signed with works due to commence on site shortly.

The project centres on the renovation and extension of this charming existing cottage, with a new upper level, completely reworked interiors, and a more open connection between the house and its garden.

From the outset, the intention has been to retain the character that makes the existing home so special. Designed through the CDC pathway, the additions take their cues from the scale, proportions and detailing of the original cottage - creating a home that feels larger and more contemporary, while still belonging comfortably to its setting.

Looking forward to seeing this one come to life. Keep an eye out on our socials for more snippets of this project in the coming days.

A NEW FAMILIAR // The scope also included the reworking of the rear garden and pool cabana. The home now opens through to the garden and pool, and connects to the view of the ocean beyond.

A NEW FAMILIAR // An existing Coogee house, reworked for a more connected way of living.

At A New Familiar, a series of deliberate changes reshaped the experience of home - from its street entry, to the organisation of the lower floors and the relationship between interior and outdoor space.

A NEW FAMILIAR // The architectural changes and interior palette were developed as parts of one home.

Warm, tonal rooms sit within a reworked plan, with deep red joinery, softened thresholds and carefully framed outlooks giving the interior its own character.

A NEW FAMILIAR // Three moves reshaped our Coogee Project.

The former balcony was enclosed to allow for a generous master bedroom overlooking the ocean. The front door was relocated to create a clear arrival. Below, the floor plan was reorganised around the way the house needed to work day to day.

The transformation is visible from the street, but its value is felt in how the home is now used.

THE NEW FAMILIAR // Rather than replace the existing house, we worked with what was already there - enclosing the former balcony, relocating the front entry and reworking the lower-floor plan to make the home more coherent and easier to live in.

The result is a contemporary coastal home shaped through careful reuse.

More from The New Familiar over the coming weeks.
