From forgotten architectural remnant to the heart of the home. ✨

Swipe through to see the transformation of the fireplace at the Hinkler Residence. Our design intent for this project was centered on spatial flow and creating intimate gathering rituals. We moved away from the original, compartmentalized layout to open up the sightlines, allowing the living space to breathe during the day while becoming an intimate, anchored retreat once the sun goes down.1

The H-550X natural gas fireplace by Jetmaster Fireplaces Australia was the perfect choice to anchor this space.

THE HEART OF THE HOME: Reimagining the hearth at the Hinkler Residence. 🔥

In open-plan living, we always ask: Where is the emotional anchor? For this Art Deco transformation, the answer was a central, commanding fireplace. Using the ritual of fire to honour heritage, define spatial flow, and create a grounded sanctuary built for connection, not screens. We selected Heat & GLO series 5 from Jetmaster

Core Concept: Osaka MIDORI LIFE which blends nature, innovation, and sustainable living to foster a healthy, future-oriented urban lifestyle.

KOE DONUTS - KYOTO

The interior design seamlessly blends traditional Japanese craftsmanship with a stark, modern industrial aesthetic.

The baskets double as complex light fixtures, casting soft, dappled shadows that mimic a forest canopy and mimic the comforting, rounded shapes of the donuts.

The Bamboo Ceiling Architecture
The defining visual centerpiece is the sweeping canopy of 572 woven bamboo basketsacross the ceiling. Utilizing a traditional weaving technique known as rokutsume-ami (six-eyed woven pattern) using local bamboo.

Stepping inside the Garden Plazas feels like entering a living sculpture from the dramatic, arched ceilings transition into soft, glare-less indirect lighting and custom woodwork. Tokyo interior design is truly living in the future. And the roof top green spaces in this mixed use building helps create a space to breathe in the complex. 11/10 🇯🇵.
