This wall in Balmain was wasting valuable space…
A bulky TV unit that tried its best, but that cavernous cupboard wasn’t functional.
So I replaced it with something far more useful:
A custom 300mm deep wall unit with a built-in TV, fireplace, loads of concealed storage and display shelving, designed to work with the room instead of against it.
Same wall, very different outcome!

DO NOT RENOVATE until you’ve planned custom joinery.

It needs to be planned early, because it impacts lighting, electricals, structural elements and the overall layout.

This living room was part of a major whole-home renovation, and custom joinery completely transformed the space.

Without it?
An awkward stepped wall, minimal storage and no real focal point.

With it?
Beautiful shaker detailing, concealed storage, layered lighting and a space that finally feels intentional.

Yes, custom joinery is an investment, but in family homes, it’s often the difference between a room looking “fine” and genuinely impressive.

When the room finally starts taking style cues from the artwork 👀

This Longueville formal living room on Tambourine Bay already had my client's sentimental artwork from London and beautiful sofas.

The problem? The painting was full of personality while the room was playing things a little too beige. Nothing was feeling connected or exciting.

By layering tones from the artwork and adding pattern and texture throughout, we not only created a more sophisticated and interesting space, but finally gave the painting the attention it deserved.

The original space clearly wasn’t working for busy family life, with very limited storage and constant visual clutter.
The redesign focused on creating an incredible amount of concealed storage in the custom vanity and semi-recessed wall cabinet, while still feeling sophisticated and appropriate to the character of this 150-year-old Hunters Hill family home.
A carefully balanced mix of contemporary functionality and subtle period detailing helped the bathroom feel both elegant and highly practical for everyday family life.

Can an English Shaker kitchen work in an Art Deco home with a modern extension?

Absolutely! Design styles aren’t meant to live in neat little boxes. The magic happens when they’re thoughtfully layered.

Because this was part of a whole-home design, every element was considered to feel cohesive, not like a mix of competing styles.

A timeless base with subtle Art Deco references, layered with farmhouse warmth. A generous 2.6 x 1.4m island with soft curves, two-tone cabinetry, live brass that will patina and textured finishes throughout.

Renovation kicks off this month – can’t wait to see it come to life!

This is where many master bedrooms fall flat.

This Longueville bedroom wasn’t in terrible condition – it just wasn’t doing much. Calm, but tediously neutral – white walls, white bed linen, beige headboard – all extremely common choices.

It’s not about adding more, but about making confident decisions that take a room beyond “just fine”… and into somewhere you actually want to spend a little more time – with or without your loved one!

If you’re planning a home and want to move beyond the usual choices, creating something more considered, cohesive and quietly elevated, I’d love to help.

The best spaces feel effortless, which is quite an achievement given how many decisions sit behind them.

There are around thirty in this one room alone; and across our Willoughby family home project, that number quickly climbed into the hundreds.

I take care of it all, so you don’t have to!

For our client's upcoming renovation, I tested the samples here first - paint, timber floor, benchtops, tiles and metals – so that I know they'll behave themselves beautifully later!

If you’d like design clarity before you renovate, so that every decision feels confident and considered, now is the right time to reach out – let’s chat.
