“What does Build Beautiful mean to you?”

It was the closing question from my recent conversation with Linda, and it’s a question I’ve thought about a lot since.

For me, Build Beautiful has very little to do with materials, finishes or how much something costs.

Beautiful is an emotion.

It’s the feeling you get when you walk through the front door and instantly relax.

It’s the way the autumn light filters through the gum trees and dapples across the wall.

It’s the comfort of familiar surroundings.

The sense of peace that comes from being exactly where you want to be.

It’s the connection you feel to a place and the people who share it with you.

Our home isn’t beautiful because of what it’s made from.

It’s beautiful because it feels like ours.

And that’s what we believe great design should do.

Not create a house that looks impressive.

Create a home that feels deeply personal.

A home that reflects the way you live, the things you value and the life you want to build.

Because when a home feels truly yours, that’s when it becomes beautiful.

This reel is a small snippet from my conversation with Linda.

A beautiful review from a very special client.

The greatest compliment is never just that a home looks beautiful.

It is hearing that it works.

That it flows.

That every space feels intentional.

That the process felt clear, considered and calm.

This is what we mean when we say Design Life Better.

Thank you John & Iolanda for trusting us with your home.

MAY WRAP

Well, winter is officially here and somehow the year is almost halfway done. No signs of things slowing down at Studio Minosa… which is exciting, slightly alarming, and probably why the coffee machine is working overtime.

May was a big one.

Elizabeth Bay joinery started going in, completion dates were being discussed, Lugarno bricks began to rise, and Epping Stage 3 was signed off — which means furniture and stone shopping is officially underway.

We popped into showroom launches with Reece Bathroom Life and Fisher & Paykel at Winnings, had a sneak peek at Poliform’s new renovations, WOW and made some very early morning flower market runs for our Glenbrook shoot.

With Nicole England away shooting her next book, we took matters into our own hands and became the photographers for the day. Brave? Possibly. Fun? Absolutely.

Back at our new Mascot home, the autumn sun and dappled light have been a real joy — the kind of light that makes you stop mid-email and pretend you’re being productive.

We also received the final images of our Invisible Bar project and they are incredible.

And to close the month in proper style, we joined Fanuli at Grappa for a beautiful lunch celebrating their 50th anniversary with 90 interior designers, architects and the lovely Fanuli family.

Congratulations to Fanuli on such a wonderful achievement.

Big month.

Now… what has June got in store for us?

With Nicole England away shooting her next book, we had to take matters into our own hands and photograph Glenbrook ourselves.

Not only did we design the home, we furnished the home, curated the art, styled it for the shoot, photographed it, and completed the post-production in studio.

We can’t lie, Nicole kindly gave us a few very good tips beforehand, and we were listening.

This is a detail of the ensuite washbasin, a completely bespoke piece where travertine, Corian and stainless steel come together with quiet precision.

What we love most is the level of detail you can instantly read in the image, the reverse chamfer allowing the face-level storage to open cleanly, the softness of the stone, the reflection, the restraint.

A small moment, but one that says a lot about the thinking behind Glenbrook. Controlling the framing and the lens really gave a new perspective of our work, fascinating and challenging day but very proud and happy with the results!

More images to come soon.

Walk through - The Glenbrook kitchen.

Our 3.0 version of the open scullery concept we’ve been evolving over the last few years.

The idea was simple, create a kitchen where a growing family could stay connected, without everyone fighting for the same bench space.

The active zone handles the everyday rhythm of cooking, cooktop, sink and quick access to refrigeration, while the scullery becomes a secondary working zone for prep, dirty dishes and entertaining overflow.

Hidden within the joinery are two concealed appliance benches for those moments when life gets busy, alongside a dedicated coffee station and wine area tucked behind Revego pocket doors.

What we love most about this concept is how it improves transition through the home.It frees the kitchen up.Makes the footprint feel larger. And delivers the practicality of a scullery without disconnecting the people using it.

We love a good secret door.

In this case, what looks like a seamless wall quietly opens to reveal the scullery and laundry hidden behind it.

Function hidden in plain sight.
