THINK SMALL | this week’s journal is all about small-space living, and how to get it right including clever division of spaces and choosing pieces that do double duty. Get the basics right and a small space should never feel like a compromise.

How cute is this sunny little kitchen via Veere Grenney proving that small spaces most definitely don’t have to be boring 💛💛

I hope you have a great weekend !!

PATTERN | this week’s post on the journal talks about layering pattern with purpose, and how to achieve a considered look without a room feeling cluttered. A striped bedhead. A gallery wall. A collection of ceramics. A statement wallpaper. Layered gradually over time to create a home with soul.

Happy Friday 💙

BUY WELL | this week’s post on the journal talks about the five pieces worth investing in for your living room and how to buy well. The sofa. The rug. The lighting. A good side table. And a statement piece (or two) like these fabulous ones from Studio HÁM chosen for their character. Get these right and the room holds up for years to come. Link to full journal in bio above.

Have a great weekend ☀️

CONCEPT | every project starts the same way - not with a room, but with the brief. Concept Design is where the brief becomes a mood board, a materials palette and a plan, tested, refined and agreed upon before a single item is specified.

Swatches and samples, an indicative style board, then the finished room. This is what that journey looked like for this family bathroom in our Mosman federation project.

On the journal this week, how a brief becomes a scheme, and what a client actually receives at the end of Concept Design. Link in bio above.

Enjoy your weekend 🤎

DARK | but definitely not dull 🖤

Moody cabinetry in deep black, warmed up with brass hardware, timber tones and a terrazzo island bench. Proof that dark doesn’t mean heavy when the palette is considered.

SCALE | One of the things we love about Sydney’s federation homes is their sense of space. Wide blocks, soaring ceilings and beautifully proportioned rooms mean you can be a little bolder with your furnishings, but getting the scale right is everything!

In this Mosman Federation guest bedroom, we oversized the bedhead and artwork to suit the 3-metre ceilings. It gives the room a stronger sense of balance and makes the most of the home’s beautiful proportions.

On the journal this week, we’re talking about designing for these grand old homes, from furniture scale and window treatments to creating a better connection between indoors and out, plus a few of the renovation mistakes we see time and again. Link in bio 🔼

Have a lovely weekend. It’s looking like classic Sydney winter weather - slightly chilly but sunny, perfect for getting out and about ☀️
