DETAIL | making a compact room work harder

Continuing on with our bedroom theme this week. This primary suite at our Dee Why project was all about creating a beautifully layered space within a compact footprint with an awkward, off-centre window.

The solution ~ a bedhead custom-made to sit perfectly beneath the window, and deliberately oversized to balance the space and give the room a greater sense of scale.

Mixed timbers and materials build the layers of texture and interest in the space.

Sometimes constraint creates the best outcome 🤎

BEDROOMS | after wrapping up a lovely guest bedroom scheme this week, it felt right to make this week’s journal post all about bedrooms, and the little things that quietly go wrong in them.

Beds too big for the room. One lonely ceiling light doing all the work. Way too many cushions (guilty!) Storage that’s more band-aid than solution.

None of it needs a major renovation, just a bit more thought. Small tweaks, much better bedroom.
