https://linktr.ee/marylou_sobel_interior_design I’m Marylou Sobel, founder of Marylou Sobel Interior Design. I pride myself on creating beautiful homes for my clients, showing them that crafting impeccable rooms and stylish homes can be one of the most satisfying and worthwhile experiences. With 30 years of experience in the interior design industry, a strong aesthetic,

a keen eye for detail, a passion for design and a deep love of all things beautiful, I can help take your home to the next level, whether you’re designing a new home from scratch or simply looking to refresh your current interiors. My love for interiors means I’m always at the cutting edge of design trends, while my innate understanding of design, colour, texture and patterns (and how to bring these all together to create beautiful rooms) allows me to artfully combine modern elements with vintage, iconic and custom pieces. Using authentic materials and fabrics to create texture is a signature feature of my designs. I’m passionate about creating stunning and functional spaces that suit your tastes and needs, resulting in enduring beauty and of course, a home that you love living in; one that becomes more precious over time. I love working closely with my clients, as well as architects, builders and suppliers to ensure the most beautiful, stylish and long-lasting designs. Working with my clients, I remind them that bringing more colour, texture and design into their homes will filter through every element of their life; being more in love with your home means being more in love with your life. FRIDAY FOCUS || A wall of memories
In my entrance, I have a wall of memories, where every piece has a story - from travels and family heirlooms to gifts and little treasures collected along the way.
For me, this is what makes a home feel personal: surrounding yourself with things that have meaning and tell your story.

It’s also how I approach designing for my clients. I love incorporating their memories, meaningful pieces and personal stories into their homes, creating spaces that feel uniquely theirs.

Swipe to discover where each piece comes from.

CAUGHT IN THE ACTION || Scary and precise moment for our Senior Interior Architect Nick.

Very focused on making sure the mirror doesn’t break… and is perfectly straight on the wall.
There are times when we consider the clients exisiting pieces and try to include them into the new spaces, even designing around them where possible.
In this case we decided the mirror was not right for the space intended and sourced another mirror.

HOW TO STYLE A FINISHED HOME || An Interior Designer's Guide to the Final Layer
A home can be beautifully designed, carefully built and impeccably furnished, yet still need something more before it truly feels lived in. The final layer – art, lighting, books, textiles and the personal objects collected over time – is what brings warmth, depth and a sense of belonging to a space.

TUESDAY TOUCHES || From refurbishment to completion
Swipe to see the transformation - from the first stages of cabinetry refurbishment for the wall joinery, to installation during construction, to the completed space.
The new kitchen and refurbished existing joinery work in harmony, creating a cohesive design language that feels considered and connected.

BEFORE AND AFTER || A considered transformation

A glimpse into how thoughtful design can completely transform a space. For our client, we created a considered retreat from the energy of Rose Bay Harbour - a calm, refined interior shaped through a thoughtful balance of colour, texture, and natural materials.

Swipe to experience the transformation.

FROM IMAGINATION TO CREATION || Before the render comes the idea.
The brief to us was to convert a bedroom into a walk-in robe for the lady of the house. Whimsical, Chanel inspired, a calming retreat from every day life.

Swipe to see where this space began.
From the initial sketch that shaped the design direction to the nearly finished room. Photos taken last Tuesday.

TUESDAY TOUCHES || Creating a colour palette
Creating a beautiful interior begins with understanding how colours work together.

At MSID, we love the process of bringing together curated fabric selections, materials, and inspirational references to create a palette that feels cohesive and reflective of each home’s unique character.
By layering complementary tones and textures, we create spaces that feel connected, inviting, and timeless.

TUESDAY TIPS || Design solutions
In the client’s bedroom, she wanted a dedicated built-in area for personal use. Her first idea was a larger, more substantial piece of joinery — but with her existing bed staying, it felt too bulky.
Instead, we looked to the existing ceiling moulding for inspiration, recreating the detail at a lower level through custom joinery to subtly frame the space and create a dedicated dressing table.

Sometimes, good design is about finding the balance between what a client wants, what a space needs, and how it should feel.

Swipe to experience the transformation.
