From concept to construction.

A look behind the scenes at the master bedroom joinery and dressing room—from material selections and drawings to installation.

Warm timber tones, glass-front cabinetry and stitched leather handles, with a curved island at the centre. Each element considered together, from how the storage would work to how the room would feel.

A client recently asked me whether timber look joinery should match the flooring or whether it’s better to create contrast, and if so, how much?

The short answer is no, they don’t need to match exactly. But there isn’t one rule. I usually start with the undertones and look at whether the finishes sit comfortably together. They don’t need to match exactly, but they should complement each other.

Then I consider the overall feeling I want to create in the space. For this compact kitchen, I’m looking for subtle variation rather than a strong contrast - enough to add depth while keeping the palette warm and cohesive.

And always compare real samples together, ideally in the light of the space.
