Spotted in the streets of Paris 🇫🇷

These French Woven Timber Blinds (Bois Tissé) are a true piece of design history. In Paris, they’re often installed externally, with the city’s inward-opening windows making them a practical and elegant solution for shading while adding warmth, texture and character to the façade.

Peter Meyer founded the business in 1987 with these very blinds, and more than 30 years later we’re still proud to offer Australia’s most extensive collection of authentic French Woven Timber Blinds, continuing the legacy that started it all.

While travelling through France, Simon and his family also had the opportunity to visit the Ballauff office and showroom. Seeing the heritage of the brand firsthand and the incredible history behind these iconic woven timbers was a special experience, and a reminder of the longstanding relationship that has helped shape our business for decades.

While they’re a common sight throughout France, we rarely see them used externally here in Australia. After spotting these on the streets of Paris, we couldn’t help but think what a stunning architectural feature they could make on the right Australian home.

The most effective design details are often the ones you never notice. The Silent Gliss patented 2C glider combines stability with noise absorption to deliver exceptionally smooth, near-silent curtain movement.

For architects, interior designers and specifiers, the benefits are clear: improved acoustic comfort and a more refined user experience. Ideal for hotels, healthcare environments, conference centres, residential spaces and other noise-sensitive interiors.

Chris Harridge joined us 10 years ago and was thrown straight into the deep end on day one at the BMAA SuperExpo.

Fast forward a decade and he’s still here, still in the trenches, and still helping make SuperExpo happen at WSAA SuperExpo 2026.

Thanks for 10 years of hard work, loyalty, and putting up with us, Chris. We wouldn’t have it any other way. 👏

25 years at Meyer Blinds and still our favourite Gold Nugget!

Congratulations to Colin Quigley on an incredible milestone. For a quarter of a century, Colin has helped lead the business with dedication, knowledge and commitment. Unlike the machine, there's nothing lucky about it. 25 years of hard work earned this one.
Congratulations Colin! Thank you for everything you do. Is it time for a Vino yet?🍷
