Join me, along with Jonathan from Studio xOx, for Part 3 of our Balmain terrace renovation series. Today, we’re talking about breaking the design rules, thinking outside the box, and stepping away from the “safe” options when it comes to materials.

Here is a look at the design vision we’re bringing to life:

The Mosaic Concept: A crisp, vibrant, and incredibly clean mosaic tile selection that honors the home’s original charm while introducing a fresh energy.

The Master Material Palette: This custom layout beautifully ties together the natural stones we’ve utilised across the house, including Carrara, Bardiglio, Grigio, Verde, Fassos, and Cristallo.

Unexpected Placement: Why we are breaking tradition by introducing these stunning mosaic tiles outside of the usual bathroom wet areas to complement our wallpaper and custom joinery colors.

We are so excited to have you along for this construction journey. There are still so many surprises we’re keeping under wraps until the final reveal!

Join me, along with Jonathan from Studio xOx, as we head upstairs for Part 2 of our 3-part Balmain terrace renovation series. Today we’re walking you through the raw spaces to break down the architectural layouts and the specific material palettes going into the bathrooms before sheeting and waterproofing begin.

Here is a preview of what’s going into the upper floor:

The Main Bathroom: Reconfigured for family living, featuring a custom Verde and Alpi green-on-green checkered floor (tumbled and sandblasted underwater for kid-friendly slip resistance), a Viola marble vanity top, and soft limestone-look Italian porcelain walls.
The Master Ensuite: Designed as a calm, trend-defying sanctuary. It features a custom offset Botticino and Rosso tile pattern, Murray red joinery, and a striking mirror-on-mirror splash back.
The Hardware: Uniform antique brass throughout, utilising pin mixers for ease of use and progressive mixers that mimic minimalist, old-school radio dials for fast temperature control.
