The Thargomindah Visitor Information Centre will be closed Monday, 5 October, for the King's Birthday public holiday, reopening Tuesday, 6 October.

⛽Before you hit the road, make sure you check the latest road conditions, plan your fuel stops and pack plenty of water.

Think it’s just a fence? Think again… this one goes for 5,614 KILOMETRES!

Meet the Wild Dog Barrier Fence, also known as the Dingo Fence - an extraordinary piece of Outback history that stretches across three states.

Built to protect sheep from dingoes, it stands nearly 2 metres high, extends around 30cm underground and is still patrolled weekly. The Queensland section alone runs for a whopping 2,500km!

You can even see it for yourself at Cameron Corner and pass through the border gate.

Only in the Outback can a roadside fence come with a story THIS big.

🐰🌿 Happy National Bilby Day! 🌿🐰

Today we’re celebrating one of the cutest little locals of the outback — the Greater Bilby!

💡 Did you know?
We have bilbies in our very own backyard, right here in the Bulloo Shire, at Currawinya National Park!

With their big ears, pointy noses and fluffy tails, these little outback residents are pretty hard not to love.

So today we’re giving a big shout-out to the little locals with the BIG ears! 🐰🌵
