Most homeowners think climate response is something you add at the end. Air conditioning, shade sails, ceiling fans, added in once the layout is already locked.
Wrong order. Airflow, window orientation, where the heat actually hits the house, all of that gets sorted before layout, not after. It's a structural call, not a styling one, and it decides how comfortable that home is for years to come.
I still walk every site checking orientation and airflow. Old habit from the engineering degree. Most designers never learned to look for it, and that gap gets expensive once the slab is down.
