Solvents are toxic, carry serious health risks, harmful to the environment and are becoming more restricted in use. So why use a solvent finish? It’s not worth the risk! In Europe, solvent based finishes are illegal as they are classified as poisons and are dangerous not only to those who apply the coatings, but also home owners and other ‘passive’ users who come into contact with these products. Choose the world leader in non-toxic water-based coatings for timber floors, Bona. Do your customers ever ask you if they should go with a solvent-based or water-based finish?
Let the facts speak for themselves! Solvent-based timber floor coatings are toxic, carry serious health risks and are harmful to the environment. Inform your customers of the dangers associated with solvent finishes, and they will choose a non-toxic water based floor finish instead. Steam Mops

Everyone has seen the commercials showing steam cleaners magically sanitising, disinfecting, deodorising, and cleaning a timber floor. The manufacturers even advertise for use on timber floors, but that doesn’t mean that timber flooring manufacturers or finish manufacturers think steam mops are appropriate for a timber floor; in fact, some have begun to specifically mention steam mops in their list of ‘don’ts’.

Steam mops can cause peeling of the coating, whitening of the coating, and a cloudy coating. Unless the timber flooring or coating manufacturer says it’s OK, it’s safest to assume steam cleaning is not appropriate on a timber floor
