A beautiful creation from Jess!

Jess has handcrafted blue scabiosa, lavender and boronia, bringing the different flowers and foliage together into this gorgeous floral spray.

The combination of blue, purple and yellow is beautiful, but it’s the individual details in each flower that really make the finished arrangement special.

🌸 The Journey – From Pieces to Perfection 🌸

One of the questions I hear most often is, "How do you make sugar flowers look so realistic?"

The answer is found in the details.

This before and after transformation shows how a handcrafted white orchid is gradually brought to life through careful colouring, shading and finishing techniques. Every petal is individually shaped, assembled and then patiently enhanced until it reflects the beauty of a real flower.

It's a wonderful reminder that creating realistic sugar flowers isn't about rushing to the finished result. It's about enjoying the process, learning each technique, and building confidence one step at a time.

We're excited to share this beautiful handcrafted succulent planter, created by our student Jane.

Australia's native flora provides endless inspiration, and this handcrafted Grevillea is one of my favourite flowers to recreate.

Its distinctive curled petals, flowing tendrils and sculptural form make it both challenging and incredibly rewarding to create in sugar. Every element has been individually handcrafted after carefully observing the flower's natural structure, movement and texture.

One of the things I love teaching my students is that creating realistic sugar flowers isn't simply about following steps. It's about learning to truly observe nature, understanding botanical forms, and developing the skills and confidence to recreate them with accuracy and artistry.

Each flower Sandra creates becomes both a personal study and an inspiration piece for future classes.

🌸 Student Spotlight – Congratulations Ros! 🌸

Today we're celebrating Ros and this beautiful Cosmo arrangement she created in class.

Every flower in this display was handcrafted from sugar, petal by petal, before being carefully arranged into a vibrant botanical design. It reflects not only the techniques Ros has learnt, but also her creativity, patience and attention to detail.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is seeing each student develop their own style and confidence. Every arrangement tells a different story, and it's wonderful to watch those skills grow with every class.

Congratulations, Ros. Your Cosmos are full of colour and life, and we're incredibly proud of what you've created.
